With the current dismal Japanese support now, it won't sell in Japan. How much more support can they find with the 2 months delay they just bought themselves?
Most screenings of non-Japanese films in Japan are subtitled with the exceptions of children films which may be dubbed. Most video tapes and DVD in Japan are also sub-titled.
Too bad the IOCCC is not going so well. They've been sitting on the entries since April. (I'm not blaming them since I understand that they have their own life outside of the IOCCC.)
But it's sad to see it in limbo. Recently, there was a message on that site from one of the judges saying that most of the other judges were no longer interested in judging the contest. (that message has since been removed)
Doesn't anyone else think that this whole carniwhore thing is a straw man?
If I remember the timing, the gov't was getting too much heat on the whole echelon thing so they conveniently drop carnivore into the public's jaw so they public can have something to chew on. Let the public vent their anger on something stupid.
In the meantime, whatever real system they have running will keep on... secretly, out of the public's attention.
The dreamcast is only doing well in the US. In Japan, it's getting its butt kicked by the PS2.
And because as far as consoles are concerned, the Japanese market is much more important than the US market, the dreamcast has already lost (in North America) by default.
