There are so many options when choosing equipment these days. I was a former test engineer, EE background, I used agilent and Tek and they were great. I also used NI and had issues with it but it worked for what I needed and that was fine. If you want to build something custom that you have to support but is specific to your application, not a bad path to very slowly walk down. If you would like something out of the box that can be used for DAQ, transient capture, fft and you can also write custom code for, the Synergy is a great product.
