Forcing people to work 70 hours against their will is bad. But when artists are working, they usually keep working until they are finished. When you are inspired, nothing else matters.
Read about the lives of "traditional" artists to see. Anyone who is really out there to solve problems and learn new things can't say they aren't inspired to complete a project, to solve a problem.
On the other hand, they DO take a break when they are done. Artists may be obessed with some things, but they aren't always crazy.
