A previous employer sold big Unix software solutions. M$ said they would help us port our software to NT if we agreed not to sell the unix version anymore. Now that's what I call co-operation.
M$ have innovated nothing. All that's happened is that machines have got faster so their thousands of coders can add more widgets and features that people don't need. They've certainly jumped late onto a few bandwagons. Did they invent the spreadsheet or the internet or the browser?

The railway companies went bust because they needed a load of capital to build real, physical lines. It's not easy to have a get-rich-quick scheme if you have to lay a few hundred miles of track.
A dot-com thinks it can make millions with an over-blown web site and a few non-e ads.
