The Mozillazine rant makes no sense. David Flanagan says Netscape 6 should be as good as Mozilla's best, not compromised by marketers. Instead of realizing that Flanagan is supporting the efforts Mozilla has made, Mozillazine goes into Nixon enemies mode. And trashes the WaSP while they're at it.
I intended to reply on Mozillazine, but it's down.
Here's the WaSP reply to Mozillazine.
dude, <small> is also broken in most versions of netscape 4 when used within styled text. as hinted (but not spelled out explicitly) in my comments on the todd fahrner article. not spelled out explicitly because i was replying to questions, not writing a 500 page article about what is wrong with various browsers. which i'm not going to write, anyway. but you can check http://www.webstandards.org/resources.html to find out more.
I agree with you. I used the word "fuck" once. After reading more than one dementedly bizarre and needlessly abusive post from an Anonymous Coward, I guess my patience and professionalism wore a bit thin. Most of the dialogue here was very useful, but some - obviously - was not.
I believe you. In that case, it's a coincidence. However, it's a coincidence which many people pointed out to me. The use of HTML as a design tool, and the color palette, were exactly the same.
I can also believe that you were unaware of The Web Standards Project. However, many at Netscape were quite aware of what we were doing.
