Actually, The Dig was supposed to be made into a movie in the beginning (IIRC by Spielberg), but they decided instead to make a game because they thought it would be too expensive.
Cool! I just tried the same thing with Linux, the movies ran all fine and I still got +100fps in Q3A.

Quick hack:
add "127.0.0.1 ads.osdn.com" to your hosts-file
Yes, you can specify as many different dist's in your sources.list as you want, and then select a specific version in your favorite package manager.
If you just want to get a single package from e.g. unstable, you can also use 'apt-get install packagename/unstable'.
There's also Xfwm4, which works really nicely with Gnome and has a lot more configuration options than metacity.
