I think people do not understand how hard NLP is. I also feel that people are thinking that just because phones and what not have had some level of speech control for some years now than it must be easy. Understanding build in commands is not NLP. Think IBM's Watson for example, it was a crazy cluster rocking like 90 servers and a combined total of nearly 3000 processor cores. Most of that was need simply to understand the abstract language of Jeopardy! questions. Even then it still got some wrong. Language is insanely hard to get right and does require many aspects of AI; machine learning, complex heuristics, huge datasets, etc... Siri is AI and I can't wait to see where it goes.
You would need a third party candidate that is charismatic enough and strong enough politically to garner the votes. Currently that is practically impossible. Most people have been conditioned if they vote for a third party candidate that it is really just "stealing" votes from other viable candidates (Nader/Gore Perot/Bush). Also I fear that the very political process would just corrupt anyone with the credentials to get that far.
Wow, a bit over caffeinated and apparently you didn't read the second part the comment. I completely agree, the direction of America's program is fucked and I look forward to the day when space exploration is a multinational endeavor (more so than it is now).
Rosocosmos seems like a name someone would come up with if there were making a parody of the Russian space program. Even so, at least some countries still take there space programs seriously.
FIscally i would be further ahead that is for damn sure, but the loans allowed me to go to a top tier university, to be part of cutting edge research, to have landed a job before I even graduated. Before that experience I had to practically beg companies to even look at my resume (though I felt I was more than qualified for the jobs I was applying to). Now I get emails and calls constantly simply because of my alma mater. It sucks that the system is what it is but I am thankful for all the years I spent in college and I am not bitter about having to pay for it (only wish it wasn't so much).
I would never be where I am now without Federal student loans. And they are loans not handouts. I am now pay them back with interest, so the government is making money off the loans and with my better paying job I am paying more in taxes than I would ever had previously. I don't think the problem is the loan program but the fact that an education can cost over a hundred thousand dollars.
When you have to publish and the amount of journal articles you have to your name is directly related to job security, you are not in a very good place to negotiate.
I find it incredible that one of the most amazing feats that a civilization could hope to achieve (ie manned space exploration), is such a highly polarized topic. Do you think if the economy wasn't in the shitter that people would be complaining as much?

Just like their other language.... What was it's name again???

Awesome, I would mod you up if I could.
They got their asses kicked in the war of 1812 against the British and Canada.
Totally schooled the Brits at the Battle of Plattsburgh, woot.
And don't fuckin' hang yourself, you idiot. You think that will end anything?
I am pretty sure it will end your life...
"They're F*cked, eh"
