The systems were probably a lot more than $3000- if you remember, video game stuff was way more expensive "back then." For example, I think the Philips CDI was like $600 new.
Had to do it...
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.
This really scares me. Soon we could have the Game Boy remote control, the Game Boy robot, the Game Boy automated surveillance system... and then, Big Brother on the Game Boy! Aaaahhhhhhhhhh!
I'm fairly young, but a few years ago, I realized that almost everything on TV news is "sanitized for your pleasure". There is truly no local news station that deosn't devote at least half its time to "How to garden better" or "midday call-in". This is why I moved to net news. On the web, you can choose exactly what story you want to hear about, from exactly the source you want, without all the audience-pleasing crap.
And so I must wonder if this concern only projects under the GPL? What I fear most is a rise of partisanship in the handling of the assignment of domain names like theses ones, as well as some of the newly proposed extensions like.net,.jobs and the like.
I hope you made a mistake....net isn't exactly a new TLD:)
I may seem paranoid for saying this, but, no matter how cool it is to see movies distributed digitally, it brings up serious censorship problems. As is shown with home video editing, it is a lot easier to edit a digital video than one on film. Say some theater owner decided he didn't want any scenes of violence in his theater. There goes half the movie. This is a really cool concept, but the censorship considerations are very large.
OK, fine. An ISP is under a DoS attack. This attack is targeted at a particular user. They ban the user, saying, in essence, "You haven't done anything wrong, but because some people out there are attcking you and therefore slowing down our lines, we are banning you from our service." This may seem OK to some people, because ISPs simply don't have the resources to track every DoS attack that comes to them. However, think of what could happen:
Script Kiddie 1: This guy in IRC said he thinks I shouldn't swear so much. I wonder what I can do to him?
Script Kiddie 2: Hey, I heard that ISPs are banning users because the get DoS attacks! Let's get him!
This would happen all over, because unfortunately, the proportion of script kiddies to real hackers (in the original sense) is growing rapidly with everyone getting fast connections. Obviously, this situation would be something like anarchy. If a criminal knows his victim more likely than him will get punished, crimes will skyrocket. Let's try to find a solution that makes some sense, such as better logs and security, so distributed DoS attacks can't happen.

Hey... Honeywell Home Controller Gateway... who wants to make an interface for the Game Boy?

Is a Simpsons meet Futurama movie (or episode, for that matter). Thoush, that might get a bit creepy after a few seconds :)
The best way is to nmap yourself. As always, the best way to secure your system is to pretend to break into it.
Well, it's a primary, so they don't really need federal approval, since it's just inside the party.
Holy crap! I never noticed how creepy smileys look in italics!

Er... you said it yourself. The modem.
This could create one hell of a visualization plugin for Winamp...
It's pretty obvious that these are pirated copies, considering if you look at the boxes they are movies still in theaters (Mission Impossible 2, etc.)
The subliminal messages actually existed^H^H^H^H^H^H^H were nowhere to be found. Scientology is the only true religion. I have to, um, go.
