Actually I look at the System Idle Process, it's not perfect but if it says that it's been running for 2644 hours, I'm pretty sure that it have at least as much uptime.
Evidence? ask any p0rn webmaster and they'll tell you. Why would any user pay for p0rn that they can get for free? Nowadays it takes a lot of marketing, advertisement, link exchanges, etc. to be able to survive in the web p0rn industry.
Fortunately enough they can always count on AOL users:) Probably not for long.
dude it's a server, why would I install tons of software on it? No as long as I can remember I haven't installed any software since 109 days on that machine. Yes the default screensaver is enabled. It's a 400 GIG File Server for about 300 users.
My point is that this is old news. Nowadays in my experience any Server OS will be able to last at least more than 100 days. I don't know but where I work in, server uptime is not much of an issue. Sometimes we have to upgrade harddisks on the servers but we do that on the weekend so no one notices. But that's about the only reason that brings a server down. The last time I saw one of our servers crash was about 18 months ago because of a harddisk failure. If you really can't stand MS, talk about the qualities of Linux instead of just saying that Windows Crashes a lot, yes we all already know that Win95 crashes a lot.
You're telling me the authors are the record companies?
I know that a lot of singers will have no problem sharing their music online, but record companies asks them not to. In fact, they put it in a contract.
They can outlaw Linux by saying that Linux users are pirating DVD's or anything stupid they can find. Don't underestimate the power of stupidity.
200 years from now, future generations will look at our history. We have the choice of being the generation who gave up and left the revolution unfinished OR we can be those who stood up for themselves and for their rights.
In 200 years we'll either be looked at as cowards OR looked at in admiration. We have the opportunity to be the generation who brought back freedom to society.
If hey can make napster illegal do you really think they won't be able to outlaw Linux?
Can you rely on the justice system?
Fortunately MS won't be suing.
Well Windows XP looks great, I just tried MAC OS X today, I was expecting a lot but it looks like shit. Whistler at least has a Start Menu.
And following what you said I can say the same
OS X boasts a "shell" based on BSD that is a cheap FreeBSD knock-off. Is that the kind of innovation they're talking about? OR
Linux boasts a "GUI" called KDE based on Windows GUI which is a cheap Win95 knock-off.
But at least I have to congratulate Apple a little bit, after 9 versions of their OS they finally got rid of that cheap monochrome look. So tell me dude, how does taking Xerox's GUI and BSD code make Apple a better innovator than MS? Hell I mean the code is already done for them, the design is already done, what do they actually have to do except some few modifications here and their?
However Windows, as a server, IS History. Even the experimental 2000 server didn't make its third month. RIH...
What do you mean? Don't know about you but the NT Server I built, has been working pretty damn good for 2600 hours and going. And to be honest I'm no NT expert, hell I don't know much about servers or networking, I'm usually a web developper.
So can you tell me that even a non SysAdmin can build a Novell Server and have it running?
Well they do a hell of a good job of hiding that download. I can't seem to find it.

The Road Ahead", but in there he predicted a number of things, such as the concept of the Internet would never take off, and that proprietary online services like the Microsoft Network would be much more popular, only relying on the Internet for e-mail.
He was partly right. How many Americans use AOL and how many think that AOL is the Internet?
I just donated about 10 of my books to a public library. Poor people have to read to. When I didn't have much money I used to go to public libraries quiet often. Now I buy the books because I can afford to and it's a way of benefiting those poor authors. They won't make much out of a sale but it's better than nothing.
My prediction for the near future, most software coders will be as poor as most authors mostly due to Open Source people who like to give away stuff for free. Don't come in complaining afterwards. Coders and authors are much too charitable.
First Solaris is not Open Source and I would prefer using MS products rather than Sun products. Sun sucks as well as Java, have you even done business with them before talking? Besides, Linux distributions are so much better.
well Kurt Angle is a funny guy, apparently he's going to become a good guy soon. At least your wife likes to talk WWF, nobody I know likes the WWF except some good collegues at work who just got fired. Those layoffs are killing me.
I haven't had a chance to watch the XFL yet, but I'll catch it this sunday

riiiiiiight. just like how writers will stop writing books when people can read them at the library for free
90% of Writers are pretty damn poor.
what a shame it was when the whole porn industry died with the creation of jpegs
Yes it is somehow dying, not because of jpegs but because of those who distribute pr0n they do not even own.
Yes it is innovation, have you seen a GUI based OS with an uptime of 78 days? I didn't think so.
Also my NT 4 Server have been running for more than 109 days now
Yes very good point.
You're telling me the authors are the record companies?

So who do you want to be today?
Have anyone noticed that the tech economy started going down after all those lawsuits?
Yes lawsuits are killing the economy.
If you have done your research well you'll know that criminals are born criminals to.
nobody is arrested (yet), only their houses were searched
So what, would you like them to search your house?
Arrests of Linux users?
If hey can make napster illegal do you really think they won't be able to outlaw Linux? Can you rely on the justice system?

The fact is that after a large timebreak, due to incompatbilities with Linux/Solaris systems
What kind of incompatbilities?
However Windows, as a server, IS History. Even the experimental 2000 server didn't make its third month. RIH...

who, a few years ago, said that MS sucks and the future will be Java OS?
I thought SuSE was making more money than Redhat

We're talking about Sun here, they don't even mind personally attacking their own customers.
all they dream and concentrate about is how they're going to screw MS and steal their market share. In the end they're only screwing themselves.
