We have been using a point-to-point laser for our network connectivity between two buildings (about 1/2 mile) for about 5 months now.
We have had pretty good luck with it.
The major problems have been weather:
on *really* foggy mornings(1/2 mile visibilty), no signal... period, end of story.
If it snows... forget about it. no signal, at all.
Thankfully, we have had only 1 snow day during the week.
