You're so right, the best quality comes from ripped CD and very often at the cheapest price !;-)
Most iTunes downloads are on 256kbps, ripping actual CDs in lossless will give you at least 600 kbps files, perfect for ipod, hifi, etc...
Here in France we never work on November 1st, who's setting an alarm clock on holidays ? And after all, if you've forgotten to turn it off, it's nice to hear it ring one hour later than usually...
Since android sources are available to the open market, a fork (or more, or better) will come one of these days and the compatibility nightmare will come true...
