A world of perfection would be a boring world devoid of variation or event. It's the imperfections of this world that introduce those random elements called events. If you wish this, so be it. I, do not.
You hate your flawed eyes. In fact, it appears you hate all of your flaws, based upon the acid coated rhetoric you displayed in your initial response. Because of your vehemence, I concluded that you wished your inferior body were designed in a manner that is, or approaches perfection. You do not seek perfection? So how is the point of failure in your eyesight such a considerable issue? If you are satisfied with your current state of existence, then you would register no complaints. This is not the case.
This level of self-confidence in scientists humors me so. Such pride, to assume that their limited human brain with it's capability for frequent and unpredictable error is the source of perfect truth(is not every human flawed?). It's foolish to think that our conclusions are flawless and equivalent to a law. How often have integral theories been proven wrong or incorrect? We will never reach a final conclusion. Who are you to say that your opinion is the only correct one? Who are you to say that your conclusions are the only possible set of results? Great men have fallen prey to pride and vanity. Don't let it cloud your judgement.
Considering the fraction that "stupid" takes up amongst simpleton users of certain flashy products with limited functionality, this appears to be a valid concern.
10Gb/s? Only 10 Gb/s? They want to drive a low latency GPU on only 10Gb/s? I think they forgot the whole "computer thing" when they cooked up this piece of crap. Unless the GPU is a 7600GT, this is a useless idea. Any card within the last 2 generations consumes most of the PCIe 16x 2.0 bandwidth in texture and physics memory swaps(not transfer but swaps, latency makes a huge difference here). CUDA eats through that bandwidth like a starved bear. 10Gb/s? Freakin' useless, and not just because of the speed, but also the increased latencies.
It's not supported at College of Charleston, so setting it up was a pain, but I digress; it was self inflicted pain, I purposely used Gentoo and wpa_supplicant. I don't even bother with "real" IT, but the tech guy in the Computer Science building is helpful and fine with it.
This I will do, once I get some down time, I'll hunt down some articles, but ATM, this is my primary source of information considering it is both new, and directly from Microsoft.
Not by the guy's description. By his presentation, the desktop takes second place, it can be started from this new "Start Menu", but it's treated like an App. It's not the primary application, and he never distinguished between Desktops and Tablets, in fact, he hinted at the prospect of the Desktop being treated like the Tablet. There may be a way to turn it off, but it appears from the video that the Desktop is being STARTED from this new...menu, not vice-versa.
The only reason I would disagree is that the video shows the desktop being treated as an "App" like any other Windows Marketplace App meaning, it is not the mother of all GUI processes. It's taking the back-burner to this new launcher, or more appropriately, redesigned Start Menu.
The video, the desktop is setup as an "App" not as the GUI mother-process. That means it has to be started or called each time you want to use it. It's not the starting point anymore, the guy mentioned that several times in the video.
Yes, you can switch...after every bootup, because this is the default interface at bootup. Not to mention switching applications without using the taskbar will bring back this...hideous contraption. What would posses them to use such a garish color scheme. That is FAR too minimalistic, kinda like modern art...unsettling...
But the installation process from outside the repo's is far more challenging then the repo's, which discourages mindless installations. There are so few programs outside the repo's that don't require installing that the problem is almost moot, not to mention, most users never actually leave the repo's.
Most of these troll cases are frustrating, but I have some background from this one. My Grandmother died from Alzheimer's disease. She was left in a nursing home for more than half of my life. I never really got to know my Grandmother well, except that she couldn't remember my name... I do remember the heart attacks, and her progression. Knowing you have Alzheimer is worse than actually suffering the results. You know you'll never remember your family again, your life, even your husband, but there isn't a single thing you can do about it. And now this? AIA, you just entered the wrong playing field.

How is it obvious or stupid? The issue is compensated for by the use of stereoscopy.

So you believe that you deserve perfection then? You desire a world of perfect beings? How boring.

Maybe the setup consists of 8000 batteries, each battery containing several cells.
Awww, beat me to it.
Case closed. You can't protect from stupid.

This, this made my day.

thinking they would release a new console so PC gaming could have the bar raised higher. Looks like were stuck with 3 more years of console ports...
