I used Scala for more than a year now and I love it. You have the ability to use almost every library from the Java world and it's not bloated as Java came to be. In fact it is quite concise, reminds me a lot scripting languages like Python.
It is an interesting mix of functional and object oriented programming. It is still relatively new but it is used by some big players and i hope it will be more mainstream soon!
