This actually might be a very good thing. Consider this: If Congress passes such a bill and software manufactures use it as a way of actually enforcing their user agreements it just may force the issue of open source development and more importantly the freeware/shareware issues. After all if M$ requires you to provide them with an e-signature that CAN be forged before they allow you to install the latest version of, oh lets say IE or Office, and Corel makes an product that is just as functional without said e-signature. Are you not going to be inclined to use the Corel product rather than the M$ product? Espically if that same FORGABLE e-signature is tied to your credit record (which it will be).
