"If only some one would make a electric car the whole world could be saved and the car company would make billions. But they won't because the evil oil companies stop them and force everyone to buy SUV's against there will." In stead of have customers in the form a lease spending $3,000 to 5,000 every 3 to 5 years for new batteries is just the thing to making a profitable car line.
In a disfunctional organization you are only as functional as you are allowed to be. You seem to be a victim of this from the sarcastic nature of you comment. Security is often seen as an obstacle by management to getting the program done. So programmers often have no choice but make it work at the cost of everything else including security. We can fix it latter in the next ver. Well often it cant really be fixed. It needs to be replaced.
what is needed is for security to be part of the design from the beginning. We can remove many or all of the over flow problems by just changing the language used to write the software. no password should be saved or sent unencrypted ( with good hard to brake encryption. For example. This needs to designed in to the program or OS not added latter. By dealing with these kind of problems after the fact we are chasing the bugs and pushing the bad design around the code, instead of just having a good design from the start. secure be design not after thought.
OK lesson time the wheel is the gear. Big wheel slower starts faster top end. Small wheel fast start slow top end. The thing that will stop the top end in the end will be the total power out put of the electric motor (the amp rating of the batteries and the motor. All electric cars have great flat torque curves, electric motors are great at this kind of thing. What made people think of electric cars as slow was the 3+ tons of lead acid batteries of yesteryear. This is no longer needs to be the case and new electric cars are often quite quick.
If I remember right a proxy firewall will stop this from being affective. A proxy Firewall will pull all the data as one system and resends it to you or many other systems on the other side. Any one who knows Proxy firewalls well enough to know?

I have researched WWII submarines and I can tell you that. The story of DAS BOOT or "the boat" was based on the war correspondent that sailed with U97 and has been confirmed by as much of the crew that could be found including the caption. It is a true story. The shots of inside the sub and the procedures are all 100 % accurate even to the type of U-boat users a type VII. The only two part that have been disputed was the part where the captain pulls a gun on one of the crew, And the very end when most of the crew and captain dies, that did not happen. U571 was extremely bad. I hatted everything about it. it is truly is an insult to any one who served on submarine.
The Afghan war was an example of a small country beating a super power. Vietnam is another, The US in 1776 over Great Britain is yet another. The reason this happens is because of two things, One in these three cases the super powers was not able to use there full military power, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and the US had more important military commitments, when fighting these wars you need very large forces, all three was under maned. Second and most important a small country can beat a super power if the small country has a super power as a friend. This means given weapons, training, and Intel. The US did not beat Great Britain the US, France, and Spain did. North Vietnam did not beat the US North Vietnam, China and the Soviet union did, Afghanistan did not beat the Soviet Union Afghanistan, Pakistan and the US did. The taliban in Afghanistan have no friends to help them and the US can put as many forces it wants there. It may be ugly but eventually the taliban will run out of fuel, bullets, and food. In the end the Northern alliance will defeat them because they will get the supples they need. If we can catch Geranimo it is possible to catch anyone.
Iran is going though some hard times. The contry is run by the religous class but the verterans of the Iran Iraq war are now coming into power and are really angery at the way the system is being run now. War Veterans are very respected and cary a very large abount of say in IRAN. I see this as a desprat mesure by a desprat leadership trying to hang on.
I have heard that controlled fusion is not possible right now because the power needed to hold the magnetic bottle of fusion material (hydrogen in plasma state.) is too high. I have heard that room temp super conductors could solve this. Dose anyone have any insight on this?
Beware of AMP Crimpers. The new ones use a different ends than the old ones. (the pressure points are different) You need to make sure you will have compatable ends when using amp Crimpers or ends. I always used AMP in the past and they worked fine. But at my new job we have panduit ends and the panduit crimper is also of a very good quality. When possible use the same brand end and crimper.
The smarter you make things the harder it is to make them full proof. You really want a system reconfiguring it self and making network decisions with out you knowing about it until after the fact if at all? The most reliable systems are the ones built by System and Network engineers that know what they are doing and make the systems as static as possible. If up time is everything and it is where I work keeping it simple having it work and having it not change is what works.
It is interesting that playing chess for a computer is really a matter of computing power. The AI logic used has been around since the 50's. The more powerful the computer the more moves it can evaluate. Considering that speed and the number of moves being evaluated is very high in the computer, each second being thousands of moves shorting the time even a little bit between moves might give Vladimir Kramnik an advantage. Being he can not solves his chess problems the same way computers do and have any chance of keeping up.
CYBEX makes what they call the long view. (http://www.cybex.com/index3.htm) It is a KVM Extender. All you need to do is plug in the PC in to the PC box plug the keyboard, video, and Mouse in to the other box. Plug them together with a patch cable. Power can be plug into ether one of the boxes to power both boxes and you are done. I have used them many times and they work very well.
The fact is we need to learn more about is going on and how the earth and its weather works. It only makes sense to move on what we believe is going on. The earth is getting warmer but is this really wrong, or bad or even having anything to do with us? If we correct the weather only because we do not like it is that also bad. But as long as people are able to be convinced that the earth is only 5,000 years old by religious crack heads. What luck do we have in getting someone to agree on changing there life style go stop something that is less understood and provable than the age of the earth?
Well I was off by one mach it was just under mach 7. That was the flight in with it had to very large fuel tanks and was covered in a special white paint that was to shield it from the heat. It is my understanding it was never flown again because of the damage caused by the heat at that speed.
If I remember right the record for an aircraft accelerated in level flight was set by the x15 rocket plane at just under MACH 6. It is a rocket plane and the run was so fast that it burned holes in the skin of the aircraft. The heat damage was so great it was not repaired.
You should have seen them back in the 80's. No matter how big there are now and they are. They still can not seem to own the desk top OS no matter how much they may what to. They controlled it once MS may have owned DOS but IBM called the shots back then not now. Back then they seemed untouchable, not now. That is the point.
Well the tobacco industry is now asking to have regulation put on them in order to have protection against more lawsuits. The lawsuits are working to kill the tobacco industry and it will soon in the next 20 years be only a fraction of what they once where. Also MS is in the same boat that IBM once was. People could not believe that IBM could ever be challenge in the computer world but it happened. They missed being split up by the government but they lost their place in the computer world, maybe forever. The same will happen with MS it may take time but it will happen and these lawsuits will help make it happen.
Hell no I can't write worth a damn and I can barely spell. I was a computer Science student at UWF. What I stated (minus the quantum computer part) is close to what you would have heard from Dr KEN Ford's (www.coginst.uwf.edu) Intro to AI class at UWF. I do believe SC is a science but we all need to understand how it is different to the other fields and understand the role of engineering has on the advancement of computers.
Computer science is different from all other form of science so much that some have argued that it is not science at all. In computer science you already know what you can and can not do computation yes non-computation no. The whole field is really centered on implantation of computation witch many believe is more engineering than science. Another thing that makes computer science different is that any experiment done to prove anything is almost immediately accepted or rejected because they are 100% replicable with the running of one program. This is almost never the case in all other fields of science. The best thing to happen to the field of computer science is the advent of quantum computers. In the end there is little to research as pure science in the field of computer science, right not we have this. If a problem is computational it can be done on a computer if not it cant the thing that is argued is if the problem is computational. Which make the field a little more like theoretical mathematics than anything to do with computers. The fact that other fields of science use computers and software there for computer science is like that all science is physics. Not true.
How much of this is from Corel (who was cutting in on Red Hats market for a little bit.)Dropping out. It may be that in order for some Linux distros to make money some will need to go out of business or really grow the market a lot. In the end it is good to see this it gives hope for the long term.
I think China also had a simialer thing with the great wall. Dose anyone know more about this.
