The Sega / Accolade case was watched closely by more than just the game console sector, as you mention there were other "long standing" issues with other reverse engineering projects... 1. Automobile Ignition and Engine management units 2. Sky/BSB set top boxes for sat - TV. 3. Video/DVD/TV EPROM scratching. And lets not forget the dig daddy of them all.... how can I make my mobile phone work for free ???. With all of these "projects" the net has made the information available, the next step is a DataMan and a deve environment and combined with the library for the chip... away you go.
Yeh! As if intelligent life would waste their time on a solar system as insignificant as ours.... What's the odds on there being a sign just past Pluto.... DETOUR...Humanoid Scientists requiring funding
The transmission of data over power lines has had a lot of press in the UK, a prominent voice being the RSGB, (U.S. equiv = ARRL http://www.arrl.org/) who eventually got the testing stopped. The upshot is that the technology could not provide a service without interference to other services. Check out the RSGB's comments at http://www.rsgb.org/extra/pltend.htm. It also mentions a press release on the subject...but I could not find it ! I would hazard a guess that the same technology is being used in the U.S. but as for the comment about it being transferable to Europe.... it would not get approval...
Get a Life, get fiber to the door !
