Although the RIAA/MPAA are NOW based on international corporations, it originated in the most influential and omnipotent Country in the world, the USA. The DMCA was a Clinton/GOP/USA thing after all and the power given to the multinational corporations with that law changed everything for all of us and in the process trashed your constitution.
The thing that gets me is that the American entertainment industry is by and large the goose that lays the golden eggs for the US and Canada and everywhere else basicly yet the very corporations that stands to gain the most future revenue from keeping the goose healthy and happy are the ones destroying their customers/citizens/geese but suing them mercilessly with full government backing and destroying all cultural innovation throughout the world.
Really bad karma over a long period of time for them, starting with corporations cheating there way into becoming legal US citizens, but this ACTA monstrosity is a sign of desperation on their part.
It would read out a 4 or 5 digit number and then you would type it in. Not sure what the best audio format would be but Flash is everywhere so maybe that.
It's pretty easy to trash astrology when all you know is what you've seen in newspapers and magazines but it's got a lot of good things that most young scientists should investigate before they dismiss it out of hand.
I studied astrology after meeting a beautiful girl who was very involved with spirituality. After we broke up I continued because I found it helped me enjoy other unastrological subjects that I was interested in like psychology, astronomy, calculus and physics long before I became involved in science.
Here are a few interesting byproducts that a budding scientist can receive from studying astrology...
1) Obviously the history of science is full of alchemical and astrological references so by studying the pseudoscience you end up knowing where you came from as a scientist without the dryness of a formal history course.
2) Although calculus wouldn't be the first thing you think about when you're speaking about astrology, I had to learn the math before I could fully understand the more esoteric calculations and theories I was working on during my studies. Long story short, my theories turned out to be silly in retrospect but without it calculus would have been too intimidating to even contemplate learning.
3) Drawing a cool looking horoscope with all the planets and aspects is beautiful and mathematical at the same time.
4) How can you beat Astronomy, Psychology and girls all together in one subject.:P
Unlike Sunday newspaper astrology where it's mostly predictive and in the end suspect, real astrology should be more about personal growth and understanding yourself through intense analysis of ones personal relationship with the world and other people. The key being that you do it to find out about yourself.
R/DNA viruses have adapted to their environment over time just like code viruses have but the question that begs to be asked is will the code virus's evolution be something benign like the common cold merely being a nuisance yet coexisting with us with minimal bad side effects or towards a more Ebola like form of virulence where the end result for all future encounters is the mutual annihilation of itself and it's victim host.
How about if they covered the space shuttle with a removable kevlar anti balistic coating that could be easily discarded before they returned to earth. The cost for every shuttle flight is so large that the extra costs would be inconsequential. I would definitely get into the book of world records as the largest car cover ever made.:)
The fighter jet may be sexier but it's already packed with as much stuff as possible in an aerodynamic shell, so fitting a refrigerator size laser into it would be a lot harder than just mounting it on one of those large transport helicoptors.
Then all they would have to do is line them up in formation and shoot down all the missiles and artilery that is shot at the most important bases and troops.
All you people who are so happy to report others for their crimes because of moral issues should be more than happy to have their own children call the police whenever the parents have commited a crime.
For example, dad and mom are cheating on their income taxes and jr. overhears them so he calls the cops like a good "citizen".
How about this one, you the parent steals stuff from your employer (nothing expensive just small time things) and your little angel has been told at school that this is a crime so he calls the police.
Just a couple of examples why the state has no business having it's citizen sqealing or reporting on each other for their own good. I hear this prctice was encouraged and became really popular in the USSR and Nazi Germany.
Probably easier to do than it would seem since AI is only in it's infancy and it already mimics human behavior to the point that it can actually fool people in some aspects of the Turin test.
In the future the hardest thing will probably be to categorize the millions of different types of AI that will be created and develop a system to differentiate between humans and their AI counterparts.
A few years ago I built an true autonomous robot out of leggo and radio shack parts and it worked pretty good.It was a rudimentary bot with relay switches and no cpu but it would bump into things, back up and then go agian on it's merry way untill it hit the next object.
The reason I stopped and didn't move on to the next gen of leggobots was the extreme price for leggos.
Now with this bulk offer I plan on building my next bot with more sensers and a real computer this time.

A Vista user, a Ferengi and a clone walk into a bar and the bartender says,"Windows sucks!".
