What about workflow? How do I minimize a window? Can I run my cpu and weather applet on top bar? What about having more than one window open on the desktop? What if I want to see all that running while not leaving my libraoffice out of view or closed? Can I move my cursor over the icons and get a shrunken preview? Windows and gnome 2 had these abilities for years with the exception of the gpu accelerated preview. Windows NT 4 and win95 had these for over 15 years. Even Grandma would be frustrated by the limitations of gnome shell. It is not a resistant to change. It is the worst gui ever made. Even windows 1.0 made it easier to find things. It is so horrible and so unusable that I switched back to Windows and will leave Unix on a VM. If gnome 2 wont be updated it means it will eventually not compile. That makes us angry as we dont want linux to fade away but kde and gnome killed it on the desktop. Thats why there is so much hate

I am a little uneasy of making a web browser a proprietary platform. PcMag had an article about Chrome being the next IE 6 of the browser wars 2.0.

IE 6 was a great browser in 2001 regardless of its security shortcomings found years later. Everyone on slashdot back then admitted to using it but were scared and assumed the WWW would die soon because of it. Everyone seems to be oblivious that Google is another evil big corporation no different than Microsoft. Actually synergy is behind Google now, like it was with MS a decade ago.

Dart is chrome only, the javascript libraries are Chrome only or particulary run much better on Chrome (google ones like V8), this and many other proprietary HTML 5 code like that site with the band a few months ago that only work in Chrome. This game will use HTML 5 but has other proprietary hooks to make sure it wont run in any browser.

Google is making it clear they look at the browser as an operating system. At least Microsoft today is running away from ActiveX and trying to do good with IE 10 which will be the most open and standards compliant browser to date. Firefox is dying and is losing popularity. In a year or two from now it will be a IE vs Chrome world.

Anyone else bugged or am I just paranoid? I just want a great browser and not a simple fast one, but with the real goodies underneath it that are dependent on Chrome.

You are right a few comments back up. Your wage is $12 an hour if that was shaquel's in India is willing to work for. You can't compete with cost alone and if that is all employers look at then you move in with your parents and try to figure out how to pay for your student loans when that is all there is.

If I only had a $100,000 budget and needed 3 programmers I would set these wages too. Accountants see this and drool and sigh ... I do not need to go further. It is our culture.

I am trying to leave I.T. by starting a business. I do not know if I have the drive or not to see it through but as I see it the only way to get money is hiring these programmers and support contractors yourself and sell your solution to others, or specialize in something like the medical field or marketing where image is everything and a guy who barely speaks english wont cut it. I saw ads on Craigslist where they wanted a contractor for Phostoshop and Dreamweaver work and MUST HAVE OWN LICENSED versions for $9.00/hr! Do these guys know much these packages cost for someone working for so very low?

I do agree witht he assholish part of me that people need to work harder and employers have a right to do constant checks because people at home work even less than the office, but you have to look after yourself as your boss clearly does not. I hope my business suceeds and I make it with my product if I ever get it working. I do not see a way out otherwise sadly unless you already got the 8 years experience. JR programmers from India will just come here when mid level work is needed sadly

Every ad in my area for IT work is all contract 1040 and pays by the hour and you are treated like an employee but with no benefits. With over 10% unemployment in my area you have to do it. Infact, everyone where I am at does this for at least 90 days. Sucks for the contractors but it is a big win for employers.

I am curious where you got that idea with the IRS. I surely was always paid by the hour except for one job.

If anything the people will rally in support of the nuclear bomb and view it neccessary to anhiliate Israel and bomb US cities before they bomb us, etc.

It is not that simple and besides even if you do bomb it enough material from the skin will still give the Iranians knowledge of how it works and how to amke their own stealth nuclear missles anyway.

So if Israel or the US can make Stuxnet to infliltrate their nuclear facilities what makes you think the Iranians didn't do the same with US technology and reverse the protocol? Or simply they infected the drones computer with a rootkit and as soon as the computer heard a signal it disabled the US's subroutines in it and turned them into zombies.

My guess is the Iranians/Russians were responsible and simply remoted into the aircrafts computer and landed it in Iran. This is troubling as Israel and the US would surely use these drones before the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities begen very soon.
