  1. Re:Embrace & Extend Again on Microsoft's New Language · · Score: 3

Insistence over control of the language!@?!?!? Didn't they invent the language? Does GM give its' cars away for free? Why do they not have the right to control the language? I am not for or against Sun and/or Microsoft. What I am against is the fact that every post on this site seems to say 'You have no right to control what you invent if we like it'. If you don't like their control, don't use it! Use something else! Just stop whinning

  2. Re:Wow. Let's talk major denial here. on Microsoft Quickies · · Score: 1

I have no idea why people keep saying Microsoft is in denial. No decision like this is final until it has exhausted all appeal processes. They strongly believe they will win in appeals. Hey, this judge ruled against them before and was overturned in appeals. What makes you think it won't happen again? Just because /. users say it is so. Get over it! Companies don't want 3 versions of Windows! Companies don't want OS's they have to pay some one to tweak! Companies want stuff that is relatively realiable for the minimum cost! Don't give me that crap about about Win98 or Win95. Most large corps use a workstation version or have loads thoroughly tested so whatever is loaded doesn't crash the non-sandboxed OS (95 and 98). Once again Linux is out because they don't want to rely on someone (maybe no one) on the net to put in a feature they would like to have in by some guy in Finland. MS regularly invites large companies in to talk to their teams to tell them what they would like. They don't call computer jockeys in because you know what? You're NOT a big enough audience and you do NOT pay the bills. Computers are widgets to these companies, not art! They want someone to call when they break (that makes open source out. no technical staff nor a desire to pay or keep one) at any level and they want someone to hold accountable. This socialistic attitude of hey everything is free (peace and love dude!) and the community will take care of it does not fit the business model and never will. Pay for services! Please! Business people see this as you having them over a barrell! Keep fighting the good fight boys! I'll work and feed my kids instead! - "The thing I hate about /. is that every 18 year old kid thinks his 1800 line Perl script is the height of Computer Science" Programmers who work for a living
