If learning well designed solutions to common problems instead of spending ages making your own solutions is an ability issue, then alot somone has things mixed up.
No one is ever finished learning about programming, either it is the intricacies of C++ or programming theory. There is always more to learn. If you don't think so, then you have some issues of your own:)
