Yes, infact Flash has much better accessibility support than JavaScript/HTML based applications - for a start you can actually detect when someone is using a screenreader or other accessibility aid running outside of the browser, and trigger code accordingly. Try doing that with JavaScript.
The problem is, like Web development in general, to achieve full accessibility, it usually takes additional time/effort/money - which often doesn't happen.
I would certainly reccomendd TiddlyWiki, I've been using it here at work for the past month or so. It is an excellent way of keeping track of meetings and other pieces of information, and the fact that its a Wiki is ace (wiki words between documents...great).
Very easy to use, though not WYSIWYG, the markup is easy enough to pick up.
I had the misfortune of doing a MSc at what I now realise is probably one of the more badly run universities in britain.
Aside from taking people with >5 years industrial programmamming experience, and then forcing them to do a basic Java course using BlueJ, the standard of the markers is questionable.
Imagine my surprise when I recieved my final assignment back with the comment "No Comments!" (which there were). Perhaps the ultimate irony was that "No Comments!" was actually written over a comment.... muppets....
Surely you need to be a bit selective when your doing this, after all it could have a detrimental effect on the working/conference enviroment. You should make sure they:
Um... the patch was about 1.4Meg or something, last time I downloaded ZoneAlarm it was >2 Meg. <br> Wouldn't it have been better for you to tell her to download the patch?:)
Did I mention that I killed someone last Saturday while singing karaoke?:)
I was in The Royal, Hartlepool, and after a few drinks and the prompting of a few lady friends I decided to sing American Pie...big mistake.
So, I sang the song, I sucked but i didn't care - its good fun either way, then we left the pub (quickly I might add). To our surpise the entire road outside had been blocked off and the area was swarming with police cars and ambulances.
What had happened was, around the same time I was singing, someone threw themselves out of the thrid floor of the pub. I have since been branded the karaoke killer so I welcome any device that will reduce the number of song related deaths caused by muppets who cant sing doing karaoke:)
On another note if your in the vicinity of the Royal in Hartlepool, UK (Church Street), I will be doing a repeat performance on saturday.
Myself and a team are developing total conversions for a major RTS title. I know many people who have downloaded our main project, that it is so good that they would be willing to pay for it...
However, due to liscencing issues with the universe our total conversions are based, I know that we are no allowed to charge for the product directly. We are not really out to make any money, but how would such a situation be seen?
Barring nasty advertising banners on the site, is there any way fans can acknowlege our work without getting us sued?:)
Suppose we could just sell coffee, but charge a bit too much for the coffee if you know what I mean;)
My current CS teacher is okay on a personal level but he does not know anything about modern computing, he refuses to recognise anything beyond Windows and Microsoft Access. Also, students who know what they are doing (ie. myself) are often overlooked as he tries to hell the others pass the course.
Physics is another matter, most of the our teacher is great, the lessons are fun and everyone enjoys them. At other times though you get the impression that teachers do not really care and would be anywhere instead of infront of a class of 20....

If they games were free the developers couldnt justify the time spent..
Knowing Hyperion I would guess that they woudl have the cheeck to sell it for £40 ($60) like their other recent ports.

Your right as far as CS is concerned. All the programming and other skills I know are self taught.

Nice to see Bill finally being shown how unsecure Windows really is.
If nothing else i hope this incident will get microsoft thinking more about system security in the future.
