This passing of the law is starting a disturbing trend against the First Amendment? This has nothing to do with the First Amendment, you can still buy your video games can't you? In addition if this is the first time you thing the First Amendment has been trampled on you are not only blind but ignorant.
What about McCain-Finegold, where a canidate is restricted from putting on ads about other canidates in the last 30 days? That is the trampling of Free Speach becaue a couple whiny Senators don't like people attacking them in ad form.
What about the forced removal of the ten commandments from court houses and public buildings. Don't give me seperation of church and state, because I would like to see somebody find that quote in the First Amendment.
What about the repeated calls for censorship of a certain talk show host by Senator Robert KKK Bird?
What about the calls for Blogs to fall under FCC regulations when contain political speach?
Give me an F-ing break this doesn't even come close to the crap I have seen in the last 2 years. You are a whiny panzy and somebody should take away your voter card and burn it.
It just keeps getting better I look at the site more, and I notice the game is called Democracy Game, however all their examples have to do with Socialism. In addition they have a link on the main page at the top of the page labled "Democracy?" (notice: the question mark).
From all the pictures on their main site this game looks like it would have a tendency to favor the socialists amoug us. Let me give you these points about the pictures I saw:
The first picture shows the canidate as a socialist. The second picture unemployement is high and car usage is low. The third picture Socialist is topping out at the top of the chart. The fouth picture is about gay marriage and gives a week argument about the church wouldn't like it and a good strong argument for it. In addition the mouse is hovering over the "allow it" button. The fifth picture is the best out of all five where they show you raising the taxes, like all good socialists do.
I guess some would argue that it fits well with Linux, because Linux is Communism. Of course I am kidding guys.:)
The best thing you can do for your career at this point is jump around jobs. I am 2 years out of college this May and I am making around 65,000.00 a year with an IT degree. I mostly do web programming and my language of choice is C#.
Virtual Earth has been taken down until later tonight EST./. really didn't have any effect on it. You have to remember these servers are huge and if/. can't take down MSN they probably can't take down VirtualEarth. Keep checking the blogs it should be back up later tonight around 9 PM EST
Not really based off the same ideas and comcepts. You should really try reading the wiki to better understand what Monad is about. Instead of building scrips through Perl or Python or whatever you use this is going to be centered around building "scripts" in.NET. I would encourage you to look more into this before you start opening your big mouth and downplaying something you know nothing about.
It's funny he didn't mention the likes of Novell, which is doing the same thing. It even setup Novell Forge to get people to write software for their SuSE OS with Mono. Granted a couple cool projects have come out of it, however if you are going to throw stones at a couple companies you have throw stones at them all.
This some more like America bashing than a ligitimate claim.
Wow talk about a mis-leading head line. If you read the article in Wired it says congress is debating this. This article just starts off biased and just gets worse fromt here. It is obviouse where the writer stands on this issue and what side of the political fense the writer stands on, but last time I checked the Patiot Act didn't pass with a narrow margin and it doesn't look like it is going to pass with a narrow margin again this time.
So for all you liberal's out there that say my guy would never vote for this, and Bush is evil because he did. Check the vote records for this back in 2001. It's all posted on the Library of Congress website.
I was more interested in the possibility that this was true. I use FireFox, but my curiousity still gets the best of me.

What are you talking about dude, I just went there with IE6 and nothing happened. Is this a joke or something? All that I saw was a text box with some text that said "MSIE crash, go BOOM!". You guys really make me laugh any idiot can put an anti-Microsoft page out there and you will flock to it like it came from god him self.
>> Every time you buy a burger at McDonalds, you're trusting that the cashier won't just spaz out and run off with your $4.57.
You are making a ton of frivilous points. If a guy at McDonalds runs away with 4.57 of my money he isn't going to ruin my credit and prevent me from getting future loans. At least if the company is in the U.S. it is more easily dealt with and credit services are more willing to reverse the credit history, because U.S. law is backing the credit service and if they don't a judge in the U.S. handling the case and order that the credit services all reverse the damages.
Can't do that if the records are on foreign soil and the court is on foreign soil.
First of all why not have the doctor type it up? And most of the time STD tests are sent away for to a central testing company. So no worries with that.
iPod's only play MP3 and AAC (DRM and not), but iTMS doesn't have all the music that other services do, and people wonder why they can't download music from Napster or Walmart to play on there iPod. Microsoft has offered it's hand many times to share the technologies, so iPod's will play WMA, and non-iPods can play AAC. But all times Apple has rejected the deal. Which is totally fine, because eventually market demand will push the looser out of the way.
However the same argument does apply. Why not let market demand decide the winning OS? Why do we need the EU forcing Microsoft to open it's API? And the DOJ trying to break up Microsoft. This is the same argument that was levyed back in the late 90's from Microsoft supporters, let the market decide the outcome.
Don't tell me it's different because it's not. iPod accounts for a vast majority of the music player platforms. Just as Microsoft Windows accounted for a vast majority of desktops, the only difference was that you could install another OS on a desktop, you can't do that with iPod. Even though the iPod chipset does support WMA.
>> To return to topic, the CEO of Napster has this one right, there is no need to legislate a standard, open or otherwise. The market will determine it.
Then why is it so important that the EU force Microsoft to open its API?
Also here is the big question why are most of the people on/. hypocrits when it comes to open standards. They demand that Microsoft open it's API, and even some demand that Microsoft open source Windows, then when it comes to Apple they say let Apple be they are just trying to make a buck, and we shouldn't force a company to open it's product.
>> Rather, iTunes locks you into the iPod. And you have every damn right to go use Walmart's music store and put those mp3's on your iPod.
What are you talking about Walmart serves up DRM WMA files? There is no service that I know of that serves up MP3 files. And iTunes is the only one that serves up FairPlay files. So yes it is true Apple locks iPod consumers into iTunes. However people buy a product because they like it, the same reason people buy Windows, they choose to buy Windows, they weren't dupped or forced into sticking with Windows after they bought their computer.
>> I love how our conservative Congress says we should engage in "personal responsibility" - but they feel the need to hold our hand in the decisions we make. The hypocrisy makes me sick
You people are just funny, you guys are really the hypocrits. On one hand Microsoft should be forced to open up it's API to Windows, but on the other hand Apple shouldn't be forced to open up the FairPlay standards? I don't know about you but that is almost the definition of hypocricy.
That seems to be the answer that I hear most, Apple != Microsoft, so OSS people love it. It gives them a feeling of victory to have a non-Microsoft company succeed.
This brings into issue all the medical, supposidly confidental, data that gets sent to India for transscribing. I hope companies from around the world take a look at the amount of personal information they are sending to around the world with out thought of who might be watching it.
I don't want to get into a shouting match either, my problem was that the guy made it sound like this was something new that nobody has done before. Google did a great job and horizontal intigration of its product lines. I have stopped using all other map services for local and short distance route planning. But the idea of laying pictures from sat. on top of geographic maps is really what I was talking about.
