Not to sound too pessimistic, but it is always *possible* that there is a great white shark swimming around Robben Island emitting satellite signals from deep within its belly... I have personally seen a few massive great whites around that area and it is not more than a few miles from Seal Island, the biggest great white breeding ground in the Southern Hemisphere.. in which case we have all been tracking the progress of a great white rather than poor old Pete:)
