Newton High School web page does not pass this test and it has to be one of the simplest laid out pages ever. The one I helped develope why in high school would do even worse and we tailored it by hand in notepad to read the same on every browser we tested.
The trail was about anti-trust infringements. This is about standards. Sure IE 5.5 doesn't meet the entire standards but neither does any Netscape/Mozilla browser. And for adding tags who cares? When I write a webpage I use front page express, adobe pagemill, and notepad ( all at the same time, just have to update them all) With front page I insert my objects, with pagemill I clean up the layout and with notepad I clear out all unnecessary bloat from my page. This has nothing to do with the anti-trust case and everything to do with standards, standards that are slow in coming that are never fully supported
Yes most web pages makers put in extra tags but thats why real web page writers use a plain text editor whether it be emacs, vi, or notepad. After all html is just a text file ran through a parser to display right
Kernel32.dll for my NT box is 364 KB. And the drivers aren't included so you are right about that. However on stability the last time my nt box went down there was a power outtage that lasted long enough to drain my backup power supply.
I have to agree. Terminal Server is incredible. Here at the college I work for my department is setting up the school to use Terminal Server to access a database. I think a web front end would be better personally but the people higher up want the terminal server. Terminal Server info can be found here.
Personally I don't want microsoft to have my data because accessing it would be a pain in the ass, especially over a regular internet connection. However everyone is posting that Hotmail has security holes and Outlook is messed up. I'll agree on Outlook but Hotmail security can't be blamed on Microsoft completely. Unless NT got good enough to handle the traffic Hotmail is running Apache on a FreeBSD machine.
I went to PETA's website and clicked the links. I found a Website called Jesus was a vegetarian. So I surfed the site and read an article that said that the world was meant to vegetarian from Eden to the Apocalypse. Now I'm no expert but it seems to me that the animals God created range from herbivores to carnivores to omnivores. I just don't think the lion ever sustained itself with grass. However if you do look up the passages from the Bible they mention you will find that if you interpret it so narrowly that they have a point. And if you don't have a point goto Bible.com. This link takes you to the new american standard version.
As far as Windows crashing I can only say that if you were using Win9x for your development you deserved it. WinNT is more stable and is what I use to do my Win32 programming. That way when you make a mistake everything doesn't crumble with bad program
Everyone is turning this discussion onto whether Linux or Windows is a better platform. The question was what was the benefits of developing of on Linux. I have programmed on Windows for about 3 years now. I learned how to program in MSVS but then I switched to Borland and a few other compilers including GCC. Borland was the worst. MSVS is about the best compiler I've ever seen. It is stable but then I use WinNT instead of Win9X becuase they are user OS instead of a developer platform. Now to be fair I have worked with Linux and FreeBSD and I think for developing they are great but I don't see any benefits to actually coding. The level of Coding comes from the coder and not the tools he/she uses.
The BeOS was designed for the graphics market. I'm not surprised that it trounces Linux and Win in opengl. The graphics designers in my business place are starting to use BeOS over our Win machines.
To tell you the truth I don't think Stephen Hawking's computer crashes very often and that software was written by, you guessed it, Microsoft.
