Actually, whilst you are right that the N-Cube won't play movie dvd's, the very reason for this is so that the Big N can release at a very low price point - I have heard $99 US bandied about a lot, as opposed to the $299 US for a PS2.
Granted, the PS2 might (probably will) have dropped in price by the time the N-Cube is released, but I'm betting it won't be 200 bucks cheaper.
