Why not just use DVD? No wear, no tear, no IPO ;p
FYI: TiVo has 66mhz PowerPC processor, which is barley enough to run it's UI/DB. Without a serious 3D graphics card to do the work, I highly doubt you could get Quake to run at any useable frame rate.
