Funny, but there are no 3D drivers for the Rage 128 under FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD... Nor, AFAIK, 3D drivers for the i810 under those OSes. Both those chipsets have drivers under Linux.
The only thing we can know for certain is that the outcome of this case has all the clarity of the American Presidential Election, i.e. none to speak of.
Then how can you say that it's unlikely he was guilty?
And the police have the right, even the responsibility, to make sure that everyone, even pedestrians, obey the traffic laws.
BTW, Yelling fire in a crowded movie theater is not a protected right according the the Bill of Rights (or rather the Courts). Our right to free speech is not an absolute.
Nobody (except for Shapeshifter) has any idea of whether he broke the law or not. They just don't know. Even the prosecution and the cop don't know, and can only speculate as to whether or not he actually broke the law. And yet, through all that, somehow the court managed to find that he was guilty within a reasonable doubt.
But that's true with every case. Only the defendant ever truly knows their guilt or innocence. Why should this case be any different?
You make good points... But I think it's unfair to make the claim that any particular defendent is not geting a fair trial without knowing the full details of the case.
Oh, I see... The doesn't subscribe to the mainstream views therefore, in your opinion, he must be innocent? You're going to make this claim even though you admit you don't know what went on in the courtroom?
Yeah, anyone should be able to block an intersection for any reason they want. Without that right, we might as well bring Stalin back from the grave and put him in power as Pres. of the US.
"Who do you think _paid_ Precision Insight to develop DRI??? "
SGI, RedHat, and 3dfx, among others, I believe.
"You know who's patents their talking about? SGI!"
You know this for a fact? My understanding is that they've licensed technology from another of other companies...
"SGI is very willing to have NVidia release code."
As is VA Linux, their other partner in developing the nVidia drivers (as well as the current company developing the DRI).
Remember, even 3dfx had a lousy policy concerning Linux in the beginning. I have little doubt that nVidia will turn around. Maybe not tomorrow, and maybe not next month, but it will happen (especially with the pressure on them to do so).
"The people at Xfree86 seem to have stopped work on the nv driver because..."
That's not true... For example, the nv driver from XFree86 cvs does support the GeForce2 now, as compared to their last release. Obviously, however, no one is really putting much effort into getting 3D going on the cards since it's basically a futile attempt.
They never claimed they were going to support those TV features, so why would you expect them to work? You should be glad you're able to get TV drivers at all. If you don't like them buy a WinTV card, for crying out loud.
Glide wrappers are the wrong way of going about things... They have every intention of getting Glide apps working under the DRI, by combining their two Glide packages (the DRI and non-DRI versions). It is not high on the priority list, since they'd obviously like to get other features going first (support for more than one VSA-100 chip and FSAA support).
Frankly, there are very few applications under Liunx that use Glide but don't use OpenGL, and your complaints should be to the author of those applications since they're the ones limiting your ability to use those apps.
Like it or not, Linux does not have a large enough user base for 3dfx to throw more and more developers and more and more money into writing the drivers. It doesn't make financial sense. However, considering the amount of effort they've put in, compared to other video card manufacturers, I think we should be praising them.
I have both a TNT2 and a V5500... Although the 5500 gives me noticably higher framerates than the TNT2, there is no doubt in my mind that under Linux the TNT2 looks and feels considerably smoother than the V5500 (although this might change as soon as the drivers support FSAA and the dual VSA-100s).
I also have a GeForce2 MX on the way... I'll be interested in seeing how the cards stack up.

I don't see how they could avoid forking the kernel over that particular issue...
They could come up with a solution for big iron which doesn't break memory management for smaller computers (which, as I recall, is the problem).

A) It's Yahoo, not Ebay.
B) Yahoo does have offices and employees in France, so to a certain degree they are a French company.

Perhaps you're right, but I tend to have more confidence in people than that.
Besides, I think it has much less to do with how "mainstream" you are and more to do with how much money you have.

Yeah, but we're also the country with the highest rate of execustions, so Amendment VIII is already out the window.

I still might think that all felons should be allowed to vote (although I'm not sure if I really do feel that way).
Ranessin
What about children, should they be allowed to vote as well?
In some instances I don't see why not, depending on the age.
What about inmates or mentally handicapped?
Yes, in most circumstances
