You cannot change the license of a project without the consent of all contributors. To claim that you can take, for example, FreeBSD and apply the GPL is incorrect.
You can however, take code from a BSD-licensed project and incorporate it into a GPL'd project, provided you observe all BSD-license restrictions.
I'll be at BSDCon 2000 and will be giving a short talk on how the FreshPorts website actually works, give an outline of the database design, and an overview of the data processing. I'll also outline the future plans. Hopefully we'll be able to expand the ranks of the developers.

1 - good idea. Perhaps that's something I can add to the customizaion features.
2 - There is only one ports tree. For -current, -release, and -stable.
3 - The number of people using -current vs -stable or -release is much smaller than you let one. And such people should be smart enough to know what they are doing.
If the main reason you use OpenBSD is because of ipf, why don't you use one of the other operating systems on which ipf runs? There must be other reasons specific to OpenBSD to attract you to it.
I'd recommend Bacula. I've installed it for several clients, all have been very happy with the results.
Disclosure: I am a Bacula developer.
But what I want to know, is why was this sucker held in Canada?
As for why Ottawa, well, I live here. Of course I'd hold it there. Location, price, and accessibility are important.
I wouldn't have thought Ottawa the hotbed of BSD hacking.
Your statements seems to portray the requirement that conferences only be held where the developers are. That's not true at all.
BSDcan just needed a link....

I try.
There are other items under NetSaint I'd like to follow, but I haven't explored those items yet.
Thank you.
I'm sure my mum will appreciate that. She's in hospital right now....
The "they" is generally me. I've been busy. What with moving from one country to another, starting a new job, and doing the upgrade.....

I guess you haven't see this website:

It lists all official FreeBSD mirrors

thanks for the feedback.
Yes you are correct. ipf is written by Darren Reed. and ipf runs on many platforms. It was written for OpenBSD.

Now honestly. That is going too far. It's simply not true. And you know it.
