Hmm.. strange. Have you checked your port's settings? No irq/address conflicts? And the speed of the serial port is set to the maximum 115200? (setserial/dev/ttySX spd_vhi), and you do have a 16550 UART?
Btw, there is a short delay after dumping the connection and starting a new one.. (the delay is natural).. also 0.0.1 didn't have error checking on the state of the camera (camera could be still finishing its last command serie, but "ks" ends normally)
