we had a computer in grade school in a gifted and talented class where every student had a higher iq than the teacher. Although most of us were better at the computer than the teacher (then again it was a very simple computer) there wasnt much of a conflict or anything as for the educational software it actually seems to teach us a good bit.

Every article linked to on slashdot seems to have some moronic analyst who didnt bother to research his topic. sadly not much we can do as long as the article is pertinant it works for the story on slashdot.
this is why we need some form of certification from the open source comunity for analysts all non certified ones triang to comment on something they dont understand will be shot (not killed just shot in the leg or something)
finally someone who understands i know tons of people who are always wow when crusoe comes out im gonna replace all my desktops with them just so i can have the newest procescor geez. and i remember for a while all everyone talked about on irc was buying a crusoe box like they were gonna use it to crack rc5 packets for distributed.net or something.
i dont think you can call these two competitors there not even aimed at the same devices crusoe is aimed at smaller portable devices and embedded systems (netscape on the fridge anyone?) while intel's line is aimed at desktop PCs the only reason crusoe does x86 is so that users with a crusoe procescor built into there fridge can run the latest netscape build without having to wait for it to be ported to there os/arch.
i'm not sure transmeta is aimed at laptops while it goes great in them (low power consumption and all) i think it is more aimed at palm devices what'd be great is one in this nifty video watch i saw that had a wearable computer that had a 2 mbps link to a watch and on the watch was a x11 display that showed another person and it even had a camera (8 fps tho:()
the crusoe is nothing like an intel procescor its not even a x86 instead its a different lower power consumption procescor with a soft layer underneath that morphs x86 code to the cpu's native code which is the whole thing about transmeta there not really competing intel is aimed at desktop pc while crusoe is aimed at the portable computing platform
isnt slashdot just as closed as other news sites although you can comment on the articules with the slashdot system the articles ultimately are in the hands of the people who run slashdot not in the hands of the users the users only get to comment on the article and talk amongst themselves but not actually get to do there own news site although they can submit stories isnt it still up to an admin of slashdot to decide if it get posted? there is an open system that allows you to decide the topic as a user plain message boards anyone can start a new thread based on any subject there isnt this nice moderation system however which allows people to rate each other and earn karma and such maybe what we need is a message board with a moderation system. anyone know of one?
welp evidently there is proof of the system if some french freak is investigating it evidently though hes chasing somethign that his own country is going to get mad at him about.
