  1. MIR Recordings on Following April Fool's Day Around The World? · · Score: 1

Re:mote Induction's contribution to Global Disinformation Day:
A review of the 'Prvjict Mir' 10" EP by 'Etomer'

The last cosmonauts on the station placed contact mics and transimitters at strategic locations around the station before it headed earthwards...
The first ten copies come packaged with Mir Debris.

The worrying thing is, I'm pretty sure there will be a good number of noiseniks around the world saying "the sounds of a dying space station? hell fuck yeah!!"

  2. IPSquint! on Useful Utilities? · · Score: 3

Not really of course, but if you're in Bastard Operator From Hell mode, it's good for having fun with.

"You're still having IP conflict problems? See if you can Ping anything. Hmmm. Is it a Windows box? Run IPConfig - anything unusual? OK, try IPSquint; it's a bit more powerful. You've not got it installed? Odd."

Cue some Moe the Barman style fun as one of the developers goes on the hunt for a mythical app called IPSquint. .

  3. Re:Snowcrash on A New Chance For 3D On The Web? · · Score: 1

So maybe the current multiplayer games universe will be gently replaced by a 3D side of the web which is similar to the Massively-Multiplayer Online Role Playing games we see now, as people get the technology going

I think it's more likely that the multiplayer games universe will gently replace the 3D side of the web. The "browsers" (the everquest/ultima/Q3A/whatever game engines) are able to cope with 3D better than a standard web browser is ever going to, and when you look at the beginnings of the crossover - Everquest and Ultima items for sale on eBay, it doesn't take much thought to see where it could go....

  5. Crossover on Why First Person Shooters Beat Text Adventure Games · · Score: 5

You are in a musty cellar. To your north a hole in the floor reveals a secret passage
    GO NORTH
You are standing on the edge of a hole which leads down to a secret passage
    GO DOWN
You enter the passage. As you proceed along it, a blade suddenly leaps out of the wall at you.
    DUCK
    Do not understand DUCK
    GET DOWN
    I Can't do that
    CROUCH
You crouch, but your reactions were to slow, and the blade severs your head from your body. In your dying moments you see a large-breasted girl in tight shorts somersault over your headless body and on into the Tomb. She's quite athletic. You begin to feel that progress is catching up with you.
    Game Over

  6. Re:Once upon a time... on Mobile Phones And Danger · · Score: 1

These days it's not the air being sucked out my lungs I worry about that I worry about when I go on trains - it's that I'll get stuck in a load of mobile phone users.

"hello? yes I'm on the train. about 20 minutes? the medication? well, I've been cutting down because the attacks haven't been as bad - I'm on quite a busy train just now, and I feel fine."

I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO SNIPPETS OF YOUR LIFE!!!
