Exactly! I gave up on gtk before v1.0. It was and still is a an unfocused pile of spaghetti code. There has never been a thought toward backward compatibility and for that matter why the hell would somebody write and oop style api in a non-oop langauge? It boggles my mind that it even exists. But then again, KDE is ugly and gnome is pretty.:)
Who cares about the desktop? Most (>90%) of the people I know who use a desktop (win/mac) spend most of their time doing doing one of four things, games, email, surfing or choosing wallpaper. Some of them actually create documents. The point is you can't do real work with a desktop. I think this article tells the tale of the desktop better than any browser statistic can. You can have the desktop. I'm actually working.
Shoot me $11 million and I'd be happy to do it. Hell, I'll do it for $1 million. We pass the savings on to you!! Just let me know when the check is ready. -=-
Yeah, Linux needs another file manager. It could use a few more gui FTP clients as well. And maybe another window manager wouldn't hurt either. All this while there isn't one realiable mail client. WTF is wrong with this picture??? -=-

I rest my case. :)
