The states didn't enforce slavery, fugitive slave laws did. If the south had been allowed to secede, slavery wouldn't have lasted long.
You should check out the book "Emancipating Slaves, Enslaving Free Men" for a more nuanced understanding of slavery than what you've been taught in Lincoln-worshiping publik skools.
So Ron Paul doesn't want to repeal the Roe v Wade decision and set women's rights in the US back 30 years?
If Ron makes any supreme court appointments, his litmus will be : "Can you read?"
The Constitution doesn't give the Federal government any authority over such matters. Murder, manslaughter, health, etc. aren't federal issues, so why is abortion?
I'm pro-choice and the best affect will be removing this wedge issue from federal politics. The fundies will go away and we can get our house in order!
Stallman didn't make Linux possible, BSD did. Are you suggesting no other compilers or debuggers existed?
Stallman didn't make MacOS possible. Again, BSD did. Safari doesn't use any of Stallman's code, and if LGPL didn't exist (a license Stallman wasn't a fan of), another would have been used.
Stallman's contributions are gdb, hot air, and beard grease and the only reason gcc/gdb became popular is the same reason UNIX became popular: it was available. Apple doesn't even use gcc anymore and its days may be numbered.
Steve Jobs wanted to make a computer for everyone, Stallman couldn't give a damn how difficult they are to use so long they use his license.

The only reason you've been modded up is because of FSF zealots who have nothing better to do than troll slashdot. If people rated your post on the facts you would get a -5 flaimbait
Worst idea ever. You're clearly ignorant about how politics works. The government and special interests (especially bureaucrats) will tax, borrow, and spend as much as they can. The only check to this is the ability to get around it. Notice how states and cities have to balance budgets.
Once you impose a federal tax, you'll never be rid of it nor will the people have control over how much they tax (beyond how much blood they have left in their veins).
The only income the federal government should get should be provided by state governments, period. That is the only way to make them accountable. No income tax, no savings tax (inflation), and no import tax (tariffs).
If something is available on fink I try it first because I don't have to compile it. Some things which I want updated more regularly like WINE I use darwin ports for. I haven't used homebrew yet, but it doesn't interfere with the other two.
> No. Capitalism only works properly when all parties have equal knowledge of the area they are exchanging value over.
Bullshit. Two parties NEVER have equal knowledge. Trying to enforce this will inevitably lead to socialism because it will lead to controlling the exchange ratios until they are 'fair'.
This makes perfect sense, because spammers and phishers always obey the law, so if they're forbidden from using code which has already been released I'm sure they will comply.
While commercial properties have been privatized farmland is still communal, so who can claim damages?
This situation won't improve until the Chinese reject authoritarianism and demand a free society.
Apple doesn't get a dime without making products people want.
Not products YOU want. Products other people want. Your beef is with them, not Apple.
People have the choice of buying his products in the first place, so how is he limiting anything?
Your post sounds like it was written by a nasty, selfish person.
What the hell do you mean by "Tea Party control"?
I'm not a member, but I know people who consider themselves Tea Party-ers. Their primary concern is the debt. Does this make you pro-debt?

It became clear after a time that the Articles were insufficient to bound the states together
I have never heard or read a good argument to make this case. I have read arguments against it, however, such as that from Rothbard.
Fortunately, we can go back to the Articles when this federal government debacle implodes.

Having a "national standard" makes it easier to raise taxes. Having every state set their own taxes makes it easier to move to a better run state.
Supporting society?
Taxes don't go toward society, they go toward wars, prisons, subsidies, bail-outs, and entitlements.
So it's for THE social platform for nerds? I'm sure Facebook is weeping at your departure. I guess they'll have to suffer through 90% marketshare.
THIS
Also: G+'s nerdy shit turns off everyone else.
Why would nerds even use it? Do they need yet another forum? Is this why IRC and NNTP are dying?
Most people aren't in it to make money so much as to try avoid losing it from inflation.
But if we had sound money...
Performance enhancement? Does that mean they finally got rid of XUL?
Why do you have to pick?

They are property. Leave it at that
So-called "news" streams are found all over the place (note the heavy sarcasm that it's news and not propaganda).
If you want sports, espn3.com is the ticket.
Cable sucks

Yeeeeeaaaaaaa
But Reid attached it to some unrelated bill to avoid any debate.
How does that feel, Nevada?
The Lynx was superior....except it didn't have games :(
