  8. Happens already with weak cd's on Establishing the Maximum Speed of a CD-ROM Drive · · Score: 1

I while back, my cdrom drive seemed to explode, and it turned out this was infact the cd in it shattering. When I sent an email to the cd drive makers, they said this could be caused by low budget cd-r's or cd's repeatedly used in laptops, due to the spindle thing you mount it on causing damage to the cd.

  13. Advertising on Are Linux Reviews Fixed? · · Score: 1

Reviews are just another way of advertising, in some cases, and therefore has to be bought, which is unfortunate, as the reader is basically reading a lie.

  14. Re:You decide on Are Linux Reviews Fixed? · · Score: 1

It may be free, but the other half of the reason that people read reviews is to save the time of reviewing it themselves and (sometimes) to compare it with others to find the best one.

  15. Good Idea on Interesting Way To Protest Napster · · Score: 2

Thats a good idea, but there is still the problem of actually 'Trusting the Users' not to spam people they dont like, for what ever reason. It would be quite a big project for the programers at napster to do, and then there is the problem of people not wanting to get the new software, so there perfectley valid files do not get used. There is always a lamer somewhere...(Like those idiots that write "1st Post" Whenever a new headline comes out on /. )

  17. Cool on MP3/CD Players Reviewed · · Score: 1

I think that this is really cool, pushing the music business forward (or backwards) depending on how you look at it. Obviously, this will mean that piracy of MP3's is just elevated to a new higher level, with pirates burning music cd's with 10's of albums crammed on to them.. But also, it will mean music companies can SELL more on one disc. For the consumer, its great news. You can carry 1 discman about instead of one discman + cd holder. Cool.

  18. Er no on Getting Ready for The X-Men · · Score: 1

YOU ARE NOT FIRST!! Why do people have this obsession anywayz. Its like you were still at pre-school or summit (maybe you are?) I dont see the point. Slashdot is a place that people express oppinions on different matters, not a playground ffs. Go and post these king of messages on a lamer board or summit, and stop clogging up the system you ass hole. Jeeze. Its people like u that give this place a bad name (not that it has one. In fact, IMHO, it has a very Good name.) Anyway, act ur age.

  19. Better Authentication on The Perils Of E-Voting · · Score: 1

Well then, come out with a better authentication method (not that I can really c that happening in the near future) Before letting the public use the system.

  20. Obviously on The Perils Of E-Voting · · Score: 1

This was sooo obvously going to happen sooner or later. I mean, what can they possibly do to prevent knowledgeable people voting again, or FOR other people, not that i can see why any knowledgable people would want too, just some sad and lonely lamer... Anyway, what method of authentication were they planning to use on this thing? It was probably some shite digital signature or summit...
