ok, all that you said is fine and dandy, but the free speech that they are trying to censor here WILL harm people if it is censored, not the other way around. This law will not just ban sites that talk about the manufacturing of illegal substances. It will ban any site DISCUSSING the use of drugs. You still may think this is fine to do, but i'll give you a reason why this will harm people. I attend many events that, sadly to say, have alot of drug use; mainly ecstacy. While it is illegal, it is being used, and there is no getting around that. And being that its illegal, its never 100% safe to use, because you can never tell what is in it, where it has been, if its been tampered with, etc. This is where the internet comes in and actually SAVES LIVES. There are many sites that have open forums on the discussion of various pills that are floating around, and some of these forums are split up into specific cities or regions throughout the country. These sites are essential to the 'safe' use of ecstacy (which by the way is most likely the main drug this act has been introduced). These websites give information on what batches of pills contain potentially lethal chemicals, and also give information on harm reduction while under the influence. While the people that use these sites are drug users, they are still active members of society. There is no logical reason why we as a country should totally turn our backs on them. The people that will be affected by this are not the street dealers or organized crime groups, but the average user who does these things in the privacy of their own home or while with friends. Doing nothing to help drug users has been proven to do absolutely nothing to better the situation. While you may not agree with the use of drugs, you cannot argue the fact that they have always been used and most likely always will. The government will be alienating hundreds of thousands of users throughout the country and opening them up to even more dangers if this act is passed. The government should fight the war on drugs as much as they can, but not to the point where it is guarunteed to harm their own citizens. The government has to learn that taking away information will do nothing to curb the use of drugs, it will only make it less safe for those that choose to put it in their OWN body. Harm reduction and PROPER information, both good and bad, is the only way to end drug use in the US or any other country around the world.
