  1. Re:Zelda on Rewriting The Past With Zelda · · Score: 1

I actually preferred FF6 (or 3 th US) to FF4 personally. I also prefer Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross. Perhaps it's the fact that Akira Toriyama did such a great job on the characters in Trigger. It would have been quite a different game if they had hired him back at Squaresoft for the sequel.

  2. Re:Metroid sequel on Rewriting The Past With Zelda · · Score: 1

Did niether of you play Super Metroid for SNES? It was pretty schweeet! They incorporated a large number of new specials, weapons, and settings from the original, and going with the same alternate ending thing, after you beat the game, you would see Samus wearing less clothing at the end depending on how quickly you beat it. Luckily for the ESRP guyz out there, and too bad for the hardcore Samus fans, it was impossible to see anything other than a bikini on her. And yes, she was a hottie. Maybe someone will decide to crack the ROM for this game and fix that little error, eh?

And Germans happen to enjoy Zelda as well, whereas the French seem to enjoy taunting brittish people from atop high towers and throwing animals at them from the safety of the fortress walls. Now go away, or I will taunt you a second time! In meinen Himmel gibt es keinin Gott.

  4. Re:SR-71 on NASA Prototype Plane Scheduled To Attempt Mach 5+ · · Score: 1

Another difficulty with the SR-71 was that after reaching these recorded speeds it was often rumored that its metal frame would become so superheated that it would actually stretch an extra half a foot or so each time, and so was only used when necessary. This is also excluding the fact that it ate fuel like my car eats oil, very rapidly, very sloppily, and very expensively! Also, the X-16 was recorded to reach around Mach 6.17 (see my post somewhere below), and was manned by the way.

  5. Article is a little inaccurate on NASA Prototype Plane Scheduled To Attempt Mach 5+ · · Score: 1

The speed of sound is approximately 640mph and also varies depending on altitude and atmosphere. The fastest recorded airspeeds by an aircraft was produced using the X-17 prototype that similarly used rocket boosters which took it to around Mach 6.17 I believe. It's a little difficult to be completely accurate considering this was in a magazine that is somewhere in my attic at the moment and about 2 years old. I'm also a little shady on the date, but I think it was in the latter 70s.

  6. Re:Plans for the future? on Mars Odyssey begins · · Score: 1

I was specifying more along the lines of unmanned craft that would have to do little more than orbit and perform some terrain-mapping in the case of Mercury (what else is there to do on such a desolate little fireball?) and perhaps a minor atmospheric breech on Venus to take some soil samples and take a curious little look around. If Venus is supposedly our "sister planet" then I'm surprised there's not a great deal of interest in it. I think any type of habitable spacecraft making its way to either of these planets will more than likely be decades from now, or a score or so for that matter. I doubt there will be any significant changes in our spacial knowledge on common grounds for some time to come, though.

I would be interested of learning when Nasa decides to perform similar probes on our more local cellestial partners Venus and Mercury, or any other local body for that matter.

  8. Could this mean a new type of broadband? on New Fiber Development · · Score: 1

If this new generation of optic fibers becomes more of a mainstream standard, how long (if at all) before they are developed as a new method of internet data transfer? I would be very interested in seeing how it would compare to a T3 or such when it comes to massive downloads... Or how it would affect my ping in games! All those lag-kills down the commode. Would that mean your ping could be written in decimals or would this completely redefine the entire ping standard? I've been connected to a T3 server before in a game of Half-Life and it had an average ping of between 3 and 9. If this new technology surpasses older methods, we may have to reconfigure such things, don't you think?

Good thing you're being a nutless SOB AC! It's all you zealot whores disavowing all sciences for the sake of religious sanctity above all else that make this world the bordello of evil it currently is. Put your religion and prejudices aside and look at the facts for once! You especially shouldn't base your hatred on your religion, either! I doubt it states somewhere in the Bible that you are supposed to feel a certain way about something. Everyone keeps pushing that "Science killed God" thing when in reality, it's the fanatics that take things out of context that turn people away from God. That is precisely why I chose atheism over a denimination. I was fed up with followers pushing it upon others and pointing fingers at outsiders over such trifle things as interpretation and opinions. Religious beliefs are fine to have so long as having them does not infringe upon the rights of others or bring about persecution or abuse towards another. I don't care if I'm flamed or made a troll! I'm sick of this! I had to speak my mind! It's bad enough having people approach you and tell you how you are condemned to hell. It's another to find this BS in an open forum of discussion on an intelligent conversation! End of sermon.

  10. One of the few SEIOUS replies to this article on Hope For H2G2 · · Score: 1

Douglas Adams has been a favorite author of mine for some time, and I have always enjoyed the programs put out by BBC. Their interview sessions with many major musicians always asks the right questions. Their television is some of the pioneering work for free public expression, such as the infamous Monty Pythin's Flying Circus. They covered much of Douglas Adams' previou works, so it's also only fitting that H2G2 fit in there. Anyone who has not yet seen the website should visit it upon its reopen. Whether or not you wish to contribute to it, there is some very humorous as well as helpful information available there. Being true to the novel series, many of the reviews you can't help but chuckle at. A few examples would be critical analysis of the proper way to bury yourself in the sand, how to play air guitar, office wars with rubber bands, and the most strategic way to remove your genitalia from between the zipper of your pants (my personal favorite). I suggest you all make a trip over there. There is definitely something there for everybody.

Hmm...the name, the title, the content...now forgive me if I'm wrong, but do you love Jon Katz? I dunno, it's a little on the ambiguous side, but...never mind. That couldn't possibly be true. Sarcasm is the greatest gift that has been bestowed upon the minds of men, by the way. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if you were crouched under his bedroom listening to Jon Katz audio tapes and watching him sleep while bits of saliva slowly drip onto your Dr. Katz t-shirt preparing your strike. Perhaps you should have him examine your mental stability while you're stalking him.

  12. Re:Who cares? on When Students Become Informers · · Score: 1

Recently, my own school has implimented several new rules which I have found to be overexaggerated in their meanings. Due to a single incident involving a student last year who filled a resealable Coke bottle with an alcoholic beverage, we are now no longer allowed to have drinks outside of desegnated eating areas. Also, due to a few dozen addicts who smoke in a certain area of our parking lot, as well as a so-called increase in fights, we are also required to report immediately to class upon entering the building. Loitering in the parking lot, or hallways, or breaking any of the afforementioned rules result in several days of detention. There's talk of assigned parking places as well as school uniforms. As for the alleged increase in fights, there have been two actual fights so far this nine weeks, and one unsuccessful attempt. In reality, this is a decrease, though the brutality of one was noteworthy. Keep in mind also that this is a highly acclaimed and academic suburban institution where crime is nearly nonexistant. In truth, every single implememtary event is completely isolated. At the beginning of this school term, we were also required to wear photo identification on our person at all times in a viewable and restricted manner. The consequences of failure to wear them are dually as harsh. Though many of these rules to hold some justification at times, they are also somewhat absurd. Not allowing socialization in the hallways or parking lot is slightly off in left field to being protective. High school is a largely social time in our lives, as well as being the only place and time that many of us have with our friends. They already have administrators patrolling halls constantly, as well as three commissioned police officers driving throughout the lot all day. That seems like it should suffice for protection, but I suppose the administrators must ensure our safety however they must, even if it means that eventually we must all dress the same and resort to paddling, like many private schools. If they are going to practically intern us in the building, they mught as well pass around wavers and legal papers so we are guaranteed some of our few rights as well as the very functionality of such papers. Public schools should remain a public place, not a concentration camp. I'm surprised thay haven't already began construction on crosslink fences and watchtowers. My previous school even had security cameras set up in many locations. I'm thankful they haven't taken away our open campus lunches yet. Though this is my last year here, I shudder to think of what my younger brother will have to put up with when he attends here in eight years. This is absurd that such precautions must be taken in a small residential school in a quiet suburban town. We have never experienced any civil acts of violence, drug traffic, or any criminal acts so far in the eleven years this school has been open. The few fights that break out are isolated and never last more than a minute. In a school ov two thousand students, small incidents are expected. Does this seem extreem to anybody else?
