SMS vs. E-mail?

I think what he means is that you have to define an initial operator number for SMS service. The cellphone then sends the message to that service, which in turn makes sure it's delivered (even when the recipient is offline at the time of sending).
And could VNC be bundled into it as well? Anyone knoe what the licensing terms are on VNC?
I heard it's GPLed now. would have to check to make sure.
Sounds like you got a lot of good ideas there.
Look around in the P2P community, there's a lot of work going on on most of this ideas. Now if only we could work closer together and put it all into one program...
It would probably be enough to have your mobile code use an API (force them to use it, actually) which allows the code to migrate but prevents it from spreading lika a virus.
Combine that with a way to account the originating user's / computer's network usage, and you can start having fun.
I like your ideas about paying the cycle providers, though. Although I think that cycle usage (and ofcourse also network usage) should be free.
I have to agree with this post as well as with some of the replys to it. While this is another huge monopoly in the making - enough reason to watch them closely - it is important to keep in mind that the end users still have choices. I still can watch movies not from time warmer, and i also don't have to join the Army Of Lamers to get net access. If there's a tendency toward this situation, we all have to speak up. But until then - don't waste your breath too much.
Now I wonder when we'll see the Microsoft/Disney merger...
So, if we want to get technical, I guess we need a tld for not-.com-corporations, obviously.corp.
Oh, and don't forget the cc variations: .corp.us. .corp.se.

what, never heard of strace ?
absolutely ideal if you want to review after an install (to see what damage has been done)
apart from that, i prefer a shiny metal chroot environment
