I was just trying to say that if/. threw up every review it came across, well, it would be even busier and more confusing. I don't think it was a bad review, and it fostered some good conversation here, but are we going to see a review for every cool consumer electronics gadget? Why haven't we seen a review of that Rio home receiver thing, or that other MP3 hd player someone was talking about? I just think that there are better places for this than slashdot, is all. That's probably why I don't run the place, eh?;)>
I agree totally. I got one of the first rio's myself, runs like a dream to this day & has taken serious abuse. My Lyra is even better--it survived the washer AND dryer with only cosmetic damage (chipped paint, didn't even scratch the LCD)
...but is this what slashdot is for? User reviews of software that really doesn't directly pertain to open source? I could see if this article was about modifying it to add more space (which can be done, i don't remember where I saw it though), but I mean c'mon--everybody and their bastard children have already review this one.
Again, it isn't that I think the review is bad, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I just think this review doesn't really belong on the front page of slashdot.
...that it's bertter than most fps console ports. I for one don't think I would play w/o a mouse and keyboard, but maybe if it works well enough...but there are few sucessful fps's on the console anywya, and ports are usually worse than the rest
I'm praying they can pull it off!!!
EasyBuy2000.com has a lil' device for ~70 US dollars. (direct: http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/products/nintendo 64/nintendo64_gbtrans.html) It's got 32 megs worth of memory, and they say 2-8 color games or 40-100 b&w. It can d/l roms (thru parrallel port) or "copy them directly." Methinks it must mean directly to the "backup" memory card, no way Nintendo would let something like this sell if those ROMs touched the PC. It's also got a thing that'll let you play GB games on the N64, kinda like the one they had for the SNES i s'pose. And yeah, those are the same guys that carry the MP3 CD player.
This is simply breathtaking! All those users that have hit the ceiling on their current 56k modems will appreciate this...both of them... I have a 56k modem that doesn't see 33.6 speeds. I live in the high tech part of town. If I lived ~500 feet down the road I would have a choice between G.Lite or cable modem. I simply refuse to believe that they can't extend one of those 500 frickin feet. What we need isn't new modem standards - someone needs to kick the phone/cable companies in the arse!
free email is all around, pop3 even, if you look; deja does newsgroups decent, why pay for all that? If I found a reliable one, I woudl be all over it!
in a word? YES. There are so many times that my USENET searches get all weird on me, like returning things I didn't want and such, and I haven't found a search site that implements the kind of filtering that I want.
...how ths could possibly be construed as a violation of privacy. You say something in a public forum, you expect it to be read - by nefarious types as well as the intended audience. Personally, this sounds like a great tool to me. How much fun would it be to search for your handle and find people talking about you? Or searching for the name of some software you coded or something? This looks interesting to me.
...that they're only going to breed a new wave of youth with pent up aggressions and such. I play all sorts of violent video games, and I maintain high honors in a private Catholic high school. Sometimes, a good round of Unreal Tournament the night before is the only thing that keeps me from going insane in that long, dull mass. And now I would like to relate all this to slaughtering cattle, if I may...
I'm kinda fond of this office suite. Sure, it tries too hard, and the interface takes some getting used to, but if you sit down to a real work-session type or deal where you pound out word processor doc's and spreadsheets and such (which is how I work) it actually can be kinda nice. Aw, who the hell am I kidding? I hate the i-face. Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it. Good thing it's GPL, maybe someone'll dice it up and kill that desktop imitation thingy.
