Re:Should the hard part be server or client-side?

The server should handle abstracted states. For example, there's no particular reason why an audio (blind) user and a visual user can't share a desktop with each other (think teacher>student situations where mirroring a desktop is important).
So, by taking this ideal into play the server should send polygons and such as coordinates - not the visual rasterised images.
The easiest way I can think of explaining where the line should be drawn is by imagining users with different needs and how they would interact with the server.
I fear that we as a society forget how our plumbing working. I fear that we as a society forget how to build a castle. I fear that we as a society forget how to make fire by cracking flint and rock and then roasting deer. I fear that we as a society forget how to sleep in trees, naked, shivering and cold.
(I really don't want to start all this again, but...)
I assume that most people mean it's a code bloat - most people consider that X suffers from structure bloat and hacks (ie the time honoured example of vector fonts, and it doesn't have enough primitives). Many of X's ability to send low-fi versions of it's display across networks are terminally flawed unless you're dealing in a simplistic application. X, thesedays, is essentially a framebuffer- and as that it does the job poorly.
I'm sure that there are people who do work from home over a T1 using X, and i'm sure it's good for the job, but that's like saying your C64 is an excellent word processor. The job can be better done.
Don't worry, I've come to expect these kind of things from your type.
(yes I'm kidding - I find my race as irrelevant and funny as most people. In fact, I love screaming at people "it's because i'm black, isn't it?" heh heh heh)
Fuck. My flatmate talks about writing movies. That's right, he doesn't just write shoddy fucking buffy the vampire slayer tripe (buffyfanfic dot something) but no he talks about "working on slasher movies".
No, you're writing a screenplay - you fucking dumbass.
If I remember rightly, the spam script could be defeated quite easily. It submitted directly using the static field names - if you change the field names (transparent to actual users) then the script wouldn't work.
If there was a randomness to the field names with a thousand or so blanks (field names with subject343423423456456434 for example) that might serve to filter out a lot of the crap.
Of course a few days later they'd make a script to pull out the field names then use those, but we would have a day or two of peace.
Or better yet, make a perl script to pull ads off at a regular pace.
Yes, i'm being sarcastic!
I think the best way to support these Linux friendly ISPs (although really, BeOS friendly too) is to buy the products advertised and inform the company that you bought their because of the advertising on your FreeISP.
Just pulling ads off the FreeISP doesn't help anyone in the long term.
All valid points but fuel/money isn't one of them. Rotational motion is conserved and spining a space station up to 1G wouldn't be particularly expensive or difficult.
Hi, this is TZA14a, my computer crashed (stupid Windows 98!) and I'd like to continue posting under this username:
Sure, Dejanews isn't the best way to get into Usenet and it's their bandwidth, right? But for now i'd like to talk about Mentos Mints[TM]. They're great. My husband and I enjoy the cool fresh taste after a long day... because hey, I deserve it.

You should probably know that yours is the only post i've agreed with. Conversations and trying to go off tangent is when you can evaluate someone.

H2g2 sucks - I heard they don't have softlinks (two way links). Fuck, they may as well be using the web.
Argh! I meant `I assume that most people don't mean it's a code bloat`

GGI is good. Berlin is good. X is good enough.
I'm sorry, but after your last comment i'm going to have to speak up again.
Oh, forgot to agree with you on Vietnam being a wash. So i'll do that, too.
If so that would have been a dang funny Netscape joke.

He must have been picking eggs (off trees).
I'll mention WW2, 60 years ago, too.
I, and I alone, have devised a compression format that can compress a movie down to 1 bit. That's right, 1 bit.
The movie is Fight Club. The player is 3.2 gigs.
Is this true?

What you need, my friend, is a copy of DPaint IV.

For specifically UK DVDs you could try this site I stumbled across a while back (BBS).
Old expiry/modify dates are often used to combat external caching. It's also a hack to make search engines trawl your site more often.
