If your clients can't make a decision on using which gnu/linux distro... they are in the wrong position of the hierarchy of that company. If they are not wanting to risk judging wrong... they could hire some consultant. After all which distro they choose isn't important at all! rpm or deb based is the only dilema. Since it is easy to upgrade/install whatever software package on their chosen gnu/linux...
How much downtime can you afford for installing and recovering from crashes by this sort of 3rd party crapware ?
Not to mention backup-restore sofware for this exchange server. Talking about Arcserve(tm) product here. Since how long is it possible to restore *one* mailbox seperatly (not the whole bunch of lets say 1000 mailboxes)?
Do not underestimate the effect of having to use payware if you are a big organization. Can you afford to pay licences for *all* the employees ? No? Well soon your company secrects will be published by hotmail.com & sorts.

Maybe you could refrase the question as: would you stop buying closed source, with the intention to phase out the old software culture ( in lets say 5 or 10 years ).
