a little clarification on "application server" - if you mean that NT has more applications written for it than Novell - you are absolutely correct. But as an actual app server - Novell has faster disk I/O - plus with the addition of Netware 5 and a new 64bit file system it whips NTFS.
Yep! You have been caught up in the "Blame Game" every one of those providers points the finger at every one else but themselves...I have run into the exact same problem and the best way to solve it, I found, was to speak to Covad directly...if you are in the New York area their number for escalations is 212-414-2437 or 212-414-2400 - make sure you have your Circuit ID when you call...Concentric won't help you and Bell Atlantic can't do anything until they hear from Covad (sorry - but such is the game).. Also, you spoke of getting service directly from Bell Atlantic - at present they only offer ADSL service with terrible upstream (90kbps) and they use dynamic IP addressing - I have heard that Covad is going to start offering xDSL directly - this would at least cut out Concentric... hope this helps.... cpt. kangaroo
You are correct! - about that one thing. What you fail to mention in your response is that there IS a disparity when it comes to OPPORTUNITIES that different socio-economic classes have. I do not want to use race as a classifier - although - many times lower economic class and minority run in the same sentence.

The point of the article was to raise the existence of this growing disparity - and social Darwinism as you state would actually come to haunt you in the end. The reason for this is simple. If you are one of the diminishing numbers of people, who are amongst the "elite class" you are obviously outnumbered. No genius there - but - what type of world do you think would exist if the people who will eventually work for or with you, cannot complete the simplest of tasks.
I do not know about you - but I am all for raising the intelligence level of this country. Intelligence or at least familiarity with technology is becoming increasingly important as the nation becomes more reliant on present technologies.
