I wrote XEvil and the web site. The fan/hate mail is all real. Nothing infuriates flamers more than posting their own words for other people to see.
Glad you like the game. I tried to design it for long-time playability. Randomly generated maps and lots of funny combinations of weapons and characters' abilities. I spent wayyy too much time of my life writing XEvil during and after college. Most of my leisure programming time for 6 years.
