Alot of the time the web based forms on the manufactor's web page isn't up to date or just gives back a resault based on the domain name.
i.e Playboy.com is blocked but nader.com isn't
I installed a default install of Slackware 7.0 in about 15 min, then rebooted once. Then on the same computer I installed Win2K and it took 3 hours and 3 reboots. I didn't even choose anything strange just the defaults.
But if its just to a printer then the cracker could just tye/dev/random to the printer and spew out tons of crap or they could possibly send command to the printer that would make it jam and just print over the same stuff.
Have you ever tried to figure out a hardware or network problem in windows? If you click for help it some guide that asks yes/no questions with no real content in it. When you get to the end of it and if you haven't found the answer (all too common) the thing tells you to reinstall and that the help can't help you anymore, at least Linux how-tos give you a quick step by step guide and sources to find more help if you can't figure it out.
I've been wondering about that too. However people could end up trying to do other things while reading the lastest slashdot news:) If someone had just one eye covered they might thing that they could go driving or something stupid like that. (Yes some people are really that stupid) Also there would probebly be problems with radition given off by the screens being that close to they eye and developing something weird (like the cancer from cell phones) Erik
The RIAA doesn't want to change the distribution modal because they will make less money. The only way would be to force them by using new technology. Even if it is illegal they aren't going to change unless it threatens them like Napster has. So Napster may be illegal but it is changing the way music is distributed and forcing the RIAA to notice it and think about it. Erik
Ah but think about quake when the computer can always keep an eye on you and has perfect aim. That changes who is the best or not.

Why is it when I think about MS programmers I think of mindless drones?
