sure it costs the ISP's money, but Telstra are charging $89/Month (thats in $A remeber so double it if in America) they are making a mighty fine profit.
some may use as much of their bandwith as possible, but there are others like myself that for the most part use their connection the same as when on a modem. Enjoying better multiplayer games also (except if you are with Telstra then its only marjonally better).
But there is the odd month when I will download hevily, downloading system iso's for multiple systems etc.
Why should those like myself have this ability kurbed, especially when we are paying alot for that reason.
I think that the majority of you have all missed the point. QNX hasn't started to steal anything, QNX has been around for about 20 years (about 10 more than Linux) and has software of its own. Adding Linux binary support just opens more options as it has for *BSD.
As a user of both Linux and *BSD I like the ability to not even have to recompile software to have it run on my machines.
This shouldn't be bagged as just more marketing, it is some good news in the general *NIX world.
Its all good that they are building a better device, but wouldn't the money be better put towards the existing project, rather than creating another one?
Why not create a distributed system consisting of multiple servers with the files split into parts making each part worthless without the others (Pad). Have the locations of the parts of the next release within the previous release, so that only members of the project know the location of all of the files.

There have been a lot of comments stating that the "techno-elite" should become more socially "normal" or should learn to take a role in the shaping of society.
Prehaps what is happening now is the transition of an evolutionary step in society. The current society mind set has been in practically stagnant since the dark ages. Many people, both technologically inclined and not belive in different views to the curent social reality. Eventually society will change, maybee now is the time of that transition.
We have just recently passed through the 32-bit limit and are going to 64-bit
I'm sorry I must have just been dreaming about alpha's and sparcs these past few years.
