Windows and Mac might be good to use. But if we have to consider why Linux is better choice. It's free. There are millions and billions people in this world who lives in poor country. Still they are talented enough that they works with computers. Only things that they will lack is fund. Ahead of spending for windows and mac, and their different software they prefer to spend for their basic need. Then comes linux, which helps then to achieve their goals. This would be just reason to start their journey of linux. Then slowly they get used to with it. And out of those people who moves to developed and rich country, they prefer to use linux with whom they are habitual. At that time they will buy software for linux ahead of windows and linux. Even for those people who are from IT field they gets involve into open source community and then they will start to share their idea freely in open source community. So eventually most of the people will be using Linux.
