True Story:
My high school Win NT Admin has had his job for over four years. He took a class on DOS 2 years ago. He then told me, "tu huh, Knowing DOS sometimes helps you out when you're working with programs."
It is for this reason that Microsft wants to move away from DOS. It is not a necessity for users and apparently admins to know.
As for me, give me Linux and a console.
I think that the new format should store all of a program and anything else under it's own directory. Just like Microsoft.
I know it sounds a lot like flame bait but it trully does make sense. Currently, you have to search around your file system to figure out where a program installed itself.
I would like to see all programs use the following installation scheme:/usr/sbin/prog_name . And then it can also create a link in/usr/bin/.
