I suppose $9 are not really worth arguing about but I don't like the way redhat 7 is not fully backwards compatible unless you manually install library files from you RH6 cd's so from that point of view Redhat is not my favorite anyway.
I don't know why everybody tries to get this game to work on their PC's with emulators etc. DungenMaster 1 and 2 are available on PC. I suspect though that it will be quite hard to get hold of the orignal DM1 now though because it must have been one of the first PC games I ever bought in the days of the 286/386
I thing tar balls with their configure and make scripts are the best method for installing unless you are on a RedHat system (I use Slackware most of the time) The only problem is that most tar balls don't really have anything in them to remove the packages again if the install went wrong or the software simply is not needed anymore. You have to go in and clean up everything manually. One Unix which has a very nice package management system is AIX which would be useful to have under linux.
