  2. Government Regulation on Search Engines Take Their Time Disclosing Paid Links · · Score: 0

I have heard several people say that this FCC mandate is a good thing, yet often those same people talk about how governments can't and shouldn't regulate the internet. What is the difference between this and other forms of censorship? What is the difference between telling altavista that they must disclose paid links and telling somebody that they must put up a rating for "child protection" software.

Not true, a simple way to add a watermark would be to change/not change the least significant bit according to your watermark pattern. in pcm samples over a certain threshold value. This would be nearly imperceptable (probably imperceptible to average ear) and with the original (master). digital signal you could easily extract the watermark. This is an admittedly weak way of doing it, but somebody who knows more math than me could probably come up with a similar way to watermark copies that would be harder to obfuscate.

  6. Re:Funny, but... on Windows ME - The End Of UMSDOS And BeOSfs Over Vfat? · · Score: 1
Doom won't run on your command shell within windows. It uses some fancy tricks (dos4gw) to get 16 megs of ram, where dos only offered 1 (one). How this kind of app used to work was to quit windows, boot to dos, run it, and after you were done with it it rebooted into windows again.

Ummm... I've run doom and numerous other dos4gw games under win95 without re-booting. The only programs I've had trouble with are those that use VCPI to access memory via the old Expanded memory technique (EMS), such as games that use JEMM. (e.g. Wing Commander Armada). Unless WinME is going to dis-allow all dos-extenders in the console, games that use XMS in non-screwy ways should work.

What do you mean by which company will get this? Be realistic, by the time that all the appeals/motions/red-tape has been cleared in the MS case, C# will be just another decades-old language.
