  1. Noon EST (US) and still nothing... on Commercials Come To The Net (After This Word) · · Score: 1

Not getting any 'unusual' ads here, let alone video.
Tried their website directly, in Mozilla, says I need cookies enabled, and in IE 6.0, hangs at 99%.
GOOD product, can't match it's own hype...

The CompUSA Store in Indianapolis (Castleton) had RH9.0 Standard ($39.99), and Pro available on the shelf yesterday. Thought it was strange that you could buy it off the shelf, before you could get it by subscription...

  3. Re:Old memories on Updated Information On Columbia Shuttle Tragedy · · Score: 1

I have the same recollection, and if I recall, during the first couple of flights, one had ice fall and hit the tail/thruster area. A big deal was made on that mission about the consequences of something like 20 tiles damaged or missing. Most were white tiles (eventually replaced by thermal blankets later?) but a few were black tiles ( the really high temp ones). I was wondering about that, too. Also, the lack of the shuttle arm, and the lack of hand-holds. Whatever happened to the MMUs that are supposed to be aboard? And no nylon rope? And no-one bothered to even look outside, even over 16 days?
Maybe they DID know about the damaged tiles, and ordered them not to mention it, or maybe they just hoped for the best?

  4. Re:Same happened to me. on System Adminstration and Corporate Ethics? · · Score: 1

Something similar happened to me, where my manager approched me to inquire how to send a email DoS attack against a grey-market dealer of our product. I went into defensive mode, and clearly explained that this was unethical, improper, and illegal in some states/juridictions. He dropped the matter at the time. However, a few days later I noticed an inordinate amount of email being sent to an address with a suspicious subject line. I brought it to his attention, and he blew it off as a 'test'. I then took it to the CIO of the company (his boss) who said that the manager can do whatever he feels like, it is his perogative. Shortly thereafter, I was told by my manager that I had no future at the company, but he didn't fire me. The message was clear, though, that I should move on. I learned later that the person receiving the attack appreciated an anonymous copy of the email logs, which he turned over to his attorney.

  5. Re:Preview Virii?! on Four Kids Confess to Goner Worm · · Score: 1

KAK is among the virii that only needs to be previewed in Outlook or Outlook Express, don't even need to open it. Proof of concept is one thing, I'd buy them a bottle of their favorite beverage. Accidental release into the wild is bad, but excrement occurs. Malicious, malevolent payloads is something else entirely.
