I'm imagining a phone optimized for ALL the Google apps. Think Google Earth with built GPS receiver in the phone! Think Google Mail and Calendar all integrated with your phone - online storage and low bandwidth front end, etc, etc. Think Google Youtube with the ability to send an MMS to upload movies you've shot with your Google phone.
I read the entire interview and thought that Martin gave well prepared answers to questions (dare I say in some instances attacks?) from a mass of the general public that is (mostly) already biased against the company he works for.
Well done Martin! Keep up the good work and we hope to see your discussion posts more on/.
I can't believe this has made headline news on both/. and on NewScientist... This stuff has been going for years - I have a reliable German friend who know that the German Federal Police have had this knowledge and been using it publically. A temporary base station has been used before - the privacy issue (in Germany at least) is that even with a Judge appointed warrant all calls are captured at the same time while recording one call (unfortunate kickback I'm sure).
Interesting enough but it was touted by so many as such cutting edge news...
Try checking out the University website - it had much more information about the science of the discovery:

Pity they have a photo of Syndrome and his Zero-Point Energy device as an example at the top. Doesn't help anyone to take them seriously surely.

Wicked! I'll take two!
One word: Spore
